Andy Ruiz JR has whipped himself into incredible shape

You are literally talking from your ass and you are delusional if you think Ruiz being as fat as he is is beneficial whatsoever.

There is a difference in being shredded and not being morbidly obese.

Weight is power......so if he loses his weight, his power might take a hit....again I have no idea if he can develop muscle or if that's pretty much "it" for him(so if he can gain muscle, then losing fat weight might not hurt along as muscle replaces some of it).......also his speed is amazing, I doubt he would get much faster if he lost weight, enough that it will be worth losing the power....That's the only benefit I see...but I agree with the idea that he should lose weight.

All Im saying is, don't expect abs on Andy Ruiz.......I don't think his body can maintain muscle and be that shredded, while doing boxing....his body simply isn't like that that......Im sure he can lose more lbs and get "in-shape", but no way is he getting super lean....at best he ends up as lean as Kelvin Gastelum @ WW, but I highly doubt that.

Andy doesn’t need to lose that much weight he just needs to not be a fucking lazy fatass.

strict diet maybe, but even then it would be hard. Some weightlifters have made amazing transitions but they are freakishly disciplined on their diet.

he looks better but if he really got into tip top shape, he probably wouldn't even be a heavyweight.

Dude seems to have massive, David Tua-like legs though. I think he would always be around 210-220 pounds, even if he got rid of the fat.

Always be a thick stocky build, cant change that, but carrying the fat he does is completely stupid.

Agreed. I would like to see him fight at around 240, which is still a bit heavy, but not as detrimental nowadays because all heavyweights are very heavy and mostly lack conditioning.

I wouldn't expect him to become super-fit any time soon, but coming in at 260+ lbs is just ridiculous, and insulting to the sport.

Id love to see how fast he is at that weight. Id imagine hed make most of these guys look like they were in slow motion.

It's great that he can motivate himself to get in shape to fight a 40-year old washed up Chris Arreola. It's a shame he could motivate himself to do it in the biggest fight of his life against Joshua 2.

I remember when Chris Arreola dropped a bunch of weight and everyone expected him to be better and he wasn't.

Holy sh*t I laughed hard at this one. I was just thinking to myself...theoretically Andy should be 10x better considering he was already able to go 12 rounds - but I could completely see him performing at the exact same level...or even worse.

they say big george had his least impressive performances when he tried to come in slimmer too. Losing weight, not eating can be tough. How the lighter weights do it is bewildering. Most people wouldn't function that well at their jobs if they starved and dehydrated themselves for weeks. Chris Eubank said he just didn't eat or drink to make weight, how literally he meant that I don't know but it's brutal.

You dont have to starve yourself to not be morbidly obese.

the point is, you don't know how much they went on a crash diet, that's got to be depleting, Duran has horror stories of making weight, and i've heard stories of guys like vince phillips going from 190 to 140 in 6 weeks, and even more than that. You don't have to starve yourself but you can't do it overnight and come in in top condition. Fighters have done it, Duran did, many have. Heavyweights are weird though, Foreman and others perform worse lighter, Ali went from 255 to 217 against Holmes and didn't throw 3 meaningful punches. Yes, I know he was shot but he did more than that against Berbick a year later and fatter. Age is a factor too, Ali would typically lose 30 pounds in camp and it was nothing when he was young, he did that against liston the second time and it only helped him because he was apparently an inch bigger in the arms and legs.

Literally none of this is comparable to Ruiz.

Andy Ruiz has been doing Boxing his whole life....A cardio intensive sport, and he's always been that obese

Here's a video of him sparring Arlosvki back in the day....Fat as hell

I don't believe Andy Ruiz was eating a shit ton more than any other HW/Boxer....I honestly find that hard to believe....It's his genetics that's the primary cause of this......any other dude who did boxing for that long, a cardio intensive sport would've lost a shitton more weight and be in better shape...This guy's body clearly doesn't lose fat quickly when doing a shit ton of cardio, genetics.

Andy Ruiz won't "starve" but by cutting calories, he will feel "off" or "hungry" which could negatively affect him......it depends how drastic his calorie deficit is, but just the fact he has to go into some deep state of cardio/eating healthy on top of doing boxing just to look "average" shows that is mostly genetics here at work that are causing this struggle IMO.

Lmao. I guess genetics are why he looked like a blob against AJ? Clearly he has good work and diet habits right?

I cant believe were actually debating this. What a joke to think eating healthier would make you feel worse than being morbidly obese.

Yes genetics is why a guy who has been doing boxing his whole life, a cardio intensive sport, has always looked like a blob......You really think is just his eating habits/hard work? LMFAO...Im sure there is people with worse eating habits/work ethic who are shredded/decent shape just by doing boxing alone, most people genetics respond to losing weight via boxing, really well.

Guy has worked hard his whole life and still looks like that(even if he took the rematch with AJ lightly, he has worked his ass off since he was a kid and he has always been obese)....it's clearly more than just food/work....it's ultimately genetics.

Going on a huge calorie deficit to lose weight quickly will make somebody feel "hungry"/"off".....This is a real thing, which is why bodybuilders feel like shit when cutting weight.......Em I saying that's what is happening to andy ruiz? No, maybe the calorie deficit isn't that drastic, but if it is, he could feel "off".
