Andy Ruiz JR has whipped himself into incredible shape

He was fine as the shape he was in, obviously he ballooned after the AJ fight but prior to that, his weight didn't seem to have any negative affects on his performances, his cardio was always respectable and the weight never slowed him down.

His weight didn’t slow his hand speed down, but definitely hampered his movement. Can only be a good thing losing that excess weight

Still fat as hell and should be a CW.
Yeah, all the top CWs are leaving the division barely anybody cares about and trying to climb up the rankings at hw.

But the recently former hw champ with a 33-2 record, and never been finished, should move down to CW... great idea.

CW imho is a dumb as Bridger weight. Get rid of juniors and supers while we’re at it.

from 105 to infinite should be 12 weight classes max.

Agree or disagree, being fat doesnt make you better?

He’s just sucking in his gut. IMO.

He looks like he is sucking in his stomach and holding his chin up to negate the double chin.

That being said, he seems to be putting in the work. His legs look impressive here. Big boys usually have big legs anyways

But here, he looks to be about the same size as the first AJ fight, or around there. So he has simply lost the weight he put on between the first and second AJ fight, and maybe 5-10 pounds more.

People still do upright rows?

He did look much better in a few clips I've seen. Tbh we was doing fine when he was fatter but this is a good sign that he's at least more focused than when he rematched AJ.

The way he holds his fists reminds me of training back 10 years ago my trainer would tell new guys dude you aren’t trying to punch with a bomb shape in your hands. Ie dudes thumbs wide out. Makes you wonder. Boxing gloves the hand stance feels different sure but still. Lol.

Arreola had a lot more mileage when he finally lost the weight.
You think so? He'd really only had one tough fight with Vitali. Ruiz has probably been in tougher.

It is very unlikely he ever shows up shredded and I don't really think it would do him any good. That being said if he's just back to 260 or so he'll put on a better performance than he did in the infamous AJ rematch.

He said he is 255 lbs at the moment. I doubt that he is lying? What would be the point of lying if he has to step on a scale infront of millions of people anyway?

Some guys are built like that, see DC. I don't get the laughter? Slag him off for fighting AJ fat, slag him off for trimming down? Guy can't win.
DC definitely got fatter at the end of his run, and theres no excuse for that. But no. At their best shapes its not particularly close.

Its great that Ruiz is slimming down from being morbidly obese, but Im not going to give a professional athlete (or anyone for that matter) a trophy for it. No one is “just built like that”. Body fat % will always and forever be purely calories in vs calories out. This is a scientific fact. If you have excessive body fat its because you eat too much. Simple as that.

I don't believe that...Body Fat % is 100% genetic related......no way in hell does it all have to do with calories in vs calories out....It simply doesn't , it's being oversimplified.

We all know of people who eat a shitload and are skinny as hell/ or/and muscular.....and they don't work out.....it's genetics.

Yes in general, if you eat less calories than you work, you should lose weight and you will.....but how responsive the bodyfat response is, and how muscular you get, is genetic.

In Andy Ruiz case....IDK, we need to see his whole life history......it seems to me he has been a fatty his whole life...perhaps his diet has been shit his whole life, who knows....or perhaps he really sucks at losing weight even when dieting...Yeah some people's bodies are like that....his body simply doesn't respond well to losing a shitload of bodyfat....it's hard for em to get to super low body fat %.

Those are some impressive legs. He needs to come in wearing retro trunks having quads like that
