That's integral to the strategy of Tates by their own admission, convincing these girls that they're in a legitimate relationship and once they've been flown over to Romania trying to pressure them into the camgirl service.

As far as threats of violence that remains to be seen though there are some text messages that might suggest this was the case. It seems that the girls would monitor each other and if that failed there was security in place to control their movements.

This is true to some extent but its also the case that from what we know there's good reason to believe he's guilty.

There was a huge mainstream backlash against these guys based on their messaging and content which, while at times cringe and crass, didn't seem to warrant the attention and seriousness granted to it by wider society. That said if these guys are indeed guilty it would kind of vindicate the critics.

Personally I enjoyed some of the shorts that came out of the Tate sphere and while I generally didn't care for their lifestyle and message I found the bond between the brothers endearing. Some of their shorts are just the two of them goofing off and on some level it reminded me of how I goof off with my own brothers who I'm very close with. Certainly if I were to commit such a crime I would have my brothers as my key accomplices, wouldn't trust anyone else and it seems like the Tates are the same.

In fairness I don't think the content of the Tates admitting to this in podcasts or other internet content is sufficient evidence for a conviction, the prosecution would have to offer up a lot more evidence to prove their case. But if they do produce such evidence then it makes those videos all the more damning.

If Johnny Depp claimed he was a sexist and misogynist who had fuck you money and said he was moving to some eastern European backwater because it was easier to get away with corruption there and he was less likely to be charged with rape, then was actually arrested and charged with human trafficking and rape (along with other members of his alleged organized crime group), and had multiple alleged victims speaking out against him, maybe the cases would be more analogous to each other.

My commentary works under the premise that what Tate himself says in his video is true. His described modus operandi does characterize human trafficking as defined above. If it was just a stunt for views, then good luck to him because the self incrimination is damning.

The videos are certainly not a good look but it seems the starting point was relating to an American woman whose parents called the American embassy in Romania in spring 2022 in regards to her having been allegedly trafficked. Some text logs from this woman have been leaked by both sides and looking at the full logs it doesn't look good for the Tates.
