Anderson Silva first loss came in when he was 38 years

Hes in his 40s and undefeated against Tito ortiz. Never been beaten by tito in boxing in his 40s. How many people can say that?

He was also finished by a can at 29yo which is the fighting prime for most fighters and peak for many athletes in other sports. Chonan who isn't a can but was a pudgy WW also finished him when he was pushing 30.

Works both ways. Anderson had a more impressive run at that late age than most do but also wasn't nearly as good as most other greats in his 20s. He had a later prime at a more comfortable weight

You very well know that wasn't his prime. Fighting prime is the most important thing to consider. It's always been brought up that Anderson lost to Chonan and Takase, but that was as a result of him not being as developed as a fighter at that point. I always ask this question to those that bring it up.......would Anderson Silva lose to Chonan or Takase between 2006 and 2015?? You know he would chew em up with ease. So with that said, those losses really aren't relevant. Losses to Weidman and Bisping are.

Before that he was undefeated in 6 years totally (2006-2012) , i would consider him as the GOAT for a lot of reasons.

1.He took the UFC belt at the age 31-years old
2. He defended that belt for 6 years, 14 bouts.
3. He lost when he was 37 years old.
4. He took fights at 205 lbs when he was the champion, Jon Jones have never managed to fight HW yet.
5. He finished 12 fights of 14. No boring decisions like Mighty Mouse did.

There is no way we will see someone performing that after you are getting 36 years old, that is why i believe Khabib chickened out for retirement, that is why Jon Jones have issues at the moment , that is why i believe Kamaru Usman will lose his belt and he is 34 years old.

It is impressive the achievement of Anderson SIlva.
he cheated, his fights at 205 was meh, and other then Belfort, Franklin, and Henderson non of his titles defences are any better then any others. As for boring Maia, Cote, and Leites begs to differ.

What people didn't understand was that Anderson in Pride was pretty much teamless. He took short notice fights with barely any training

Look, I am a Silva fanboy.
And yes, what he did is impressive.

But nitpicking Mighty Mouse for "boring decisions".... I kind of disagree.
Regardless, I never believed that putting one fighter down will help prop others up.

What SIlva did was amazing.
What Jon did was incredible as well.
And what Demetrius did was also great.

Keep enjoying the amazing memories Silva gave us. But don't shit on what others did. IMHO it only demeans the sport.

Finishing fights is what we always want. Just like we want to see a score after an ice hockey game and not making the punishment or what it is called in English to declare a winner.

I agree!

Even his 2 boring fights? Thales and Maia? Was bc they were brazilian he took it easy on them. Vitor was personal but considering those were the only decisions and the only 2 brazlian guys? , I'm betting he could have stopped them too if he wanted to

Anderson Silva is the greatest fighter of all time and the true embodiment of the Martial Arts spirit.

Sorry, but absolutely not.

There are dominant performances that speaks much louder than just catching someone.
Cain domination of Junior for 5 rounds was far superior of Junior catching Cain in a flash KO.
And I say that with a heavy heart, since I much preferred Junior over Cain.

Lmao <Lmaoo> I've never made "excuses" for Fury's "cheating". I don't buy the boars' meat excuse at all for what it's worth, have stated as much, and not sure what you mean about plural of 'cheating', unless you believe in kooky ass hit like glove gate and spiked water. Unlike Andy, Fury did not have his PED stash filmed in his house, which kind of blew up his "sex pills" excuse that he would later rely on.

Stay relevant: the thread is about how impressive it is that Andy never lost in the UFC until he was 38, and I am pointing out the glaring aspect that during the TRT and pre USADA eras age did not mean the same thing as it does in more natural eras. Just look at TRtTor - the older he got the fitter he got, as he kept on acquiring skills and experience without aging. Same shit happened to Andy. No need to get all triggered and resort to straw man attacks and name calling, dawg.

I agree. It's not like Silva came out looking like a juiced Costa or many of the other fighters who are overly muscular and ripped at the same time.

Yep

I guess. Didn't realize
This is the 4th time in like 2 days people have unknowingly necroed a thread. Almost all experienced users too. I wonder if somethings going on, maybe a specific theme you all use has been going finicky about thread ordering

Yes, he's undefeated once you ignore all those times we all saw him lose. We've been through this with you guys . You can't just say the early losses don't count because he was young and the late losses don't count because he was old.

Gee, that's pretty fucking convenient. Also, steroid cheat.
