He was open about it even during the campaign. But if you only got your information from what the MSM reported, you wouldn't know that.

Many of his voters don't take the extreme position of deporting everyone undocumented. It's the illegal immigrants that commit the crimes and don't contribute to society they want out. While those on the left want to keep everyone, even the murderers and rapists.

Being open-minded is not a bad thing, and Trump didn't try to hide that with this issue specifically.

Sorry, but not all Trump supporters are Ann Coulter; it's not as a big deal as you may think, by conflating it with illegal immigrants in general. A bipartisan solution is something people on both sides can celebrate, yet you're only focused on being negative Trump: so you're only going to be able to see it as a negative for him, even if it weren't the case.

Most Trump supporters opposed DACA, Amnesty and wanted a Wall. That was one of his biggest selling points during the campaign. The reason Trump beat the other GOP contenders was because the others were seen as pro Amnesty and open-borders and not America First. Trump tapped into the grassroots anger at illegal immigration, you can't in all honesty deny this. His tough talk on immigration is a yuuge reason he won.

I live in western Washington state, our republicans and Trump supporters, are Alabama's white democrats.

Their number 1 issue is illegals. Every single one I have met.

I know 10 from work. Well 7 firm trump supporters, 3 soft. All 10, illegals are their number 1 issue. No matter how much I explain the the cost of illegal immigrant social service spending is a drop in the bucket, compared to defense waste and fraud, or extractionist financing, they don't hear me. They always bring it back to illegals when I discuss politics with them.

I think you under estimate this issue with the average Trump supporter.

You can't speak for all Trump voters. And when the alternative position is to let everyone stay, including the murderers and rapists, even the extremists may still feel incentivized to continue voting for him (except perhaps Ann Coulter).

Don't forget that Trump was Democrat for most of his life, and many didn't consider him a true Republican during the campaign and was kind of hijacking the party, so for him to have bipartisan views was not unexpected nor was the fact that he was open-minded and welcomed changing his position on things.
