Correct.
Without military force, Greenland has to declare independence then vote to be a part of America, two steps.

So the Trump team is already declaring Greenland wants independence .. .

He's not talking about war. The only reason for Canada and Mexico to not want to join the USA is pride. You live in America? Whatever state you live in joined the USA at some point.

If Canada joins the US, all the libs crying about it up here will have moved to Florida or Arizona or some other warm state in the first five years.

Thanks for the info. It's only 57k people. Who knows what they want if the deal is good. To gain independence then strike a deal to make them citizens could be attractive plus the cash and a portion of the mining. US could provide infrastructure etc in the deal. Maybe it's not feasible....But you just pointed out how it could be done. I'm not worried about obtaining Greenland. I'm just rolling with the idea proposed by the OP.

I live close to a country Trump more or less has threaten with military and or economical consequences if he does not get Greenland.
Its does not sound peaceful at all....

He's not joking, he's just playing hardball. He wants some concessions from some of his allies who he feels take advantage of being American allies.

He knows you don't get concessions by asking nicely.

and their PM said (once again they said the same in 2019)
