Amazon Prime

One thing I hate is that not every product is eligible for Prime shipping. Sometimes I try and find a product and I have to use the snail shipping only.

Its a awesome service. I used to work at amazon, so I have been a member for years. It is a good value, but its a even better deal for Amazon. You paying them, to basically ensure your loyalty and business. The Average non prime amazon user spends around $400 a year. The average prime member spends closer too $2000 a year, and growing rapidly every year.

Well worth the price for 2 day shipping alone. Buy a kindle for free books, music, and videos, for the free prime benefits. Kindles are also the best bang for your buck tablets. They invest huge money into new tech, but then sell them for little to no profit at first, just to get you to use Amazon more.

What did you do for Amazon? how was it?

Sometimes I order things with free "2 day shipping" and they arrive 5 days later. That irritates me.

I live in the middle of nowhere ND and I've only had 1 package miss the 2 day shipping. Newegg Egg Saver usually takes 9 days.

Fleet driving trainer at a FC. Test program that became amazon fresh.

Pay and benefits are decent as long as you are not working in the warehouse. Lots of opertunity for growth depending on your job. It is pretty cut throat, and if you don't preform you will be gone. Not as many cool perks like other tech companies, but you can make some decent money and stock benefits if you put In your time. They can be pretty brutal and don't really care about employees. Really depends on your job, and location. I really felt bad for the people in the fulfillment centers, working for a hourly wage. Tough working conditions, with no real chance to advance without a college degree.

Yeah but Prime has Nick shows and my kids love them for that.

But neither one has a huge catalog of Pixar and Disney Movies. Why is that.
Well, Netflix originally won exclusive rights for showing Disney movies, but I swear I remember seeing something (probably an article I skimmed in my Flipboard feed) about Disney trying to start up its own online service where it would directly distribute its own content via digital/internet services. That makes sense. Disney is large enough, and has a large enough library of content, that it could potentially attract subscribers on its own seat.

Ah, yeah, okay, it took a bit more Googling than expected, but I was able to find it:
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/26/b...unes-tie-in-for-digital-movie-sales.html?_r=0

Otherwise, I don't know. It seems like Disney is in bed with everyone: DirectTV, Dish/SlingTV, Comcast, Netflix, Amazon, Apple/iTunes, etc. That makes sense considering how sprawling the Disney empire is, but I couldn't tell you why you can't seem to find their stuff on either service. Simply signing a deal for the rights to distribution doesn't necessarily entail subletting IP for any actual content, so maybe Disney just charges a lot for its stuff, and so Netflix/Amazon are never carrying very much of that content in rotation at any given time.

The free two day shipping is clutch. Ordered a toilet off there, saved myself quite a few $$$ on shipping getting that prime. That was worth the money I paid for the year, not to mention the other purchases I make on there.

Amazon is pretty much the best, the only thing that has annoyed me about it is that when you do a search for blu-rays (or DVD's if you're a bit downmarket) they sometimes list the US imports in with the European ones, so unless you keep an eye on the smallprint it's not that hard to be sent a disc which won't work on your PS4.

That was a big deal Amazon scored about a year ago. It's nice, but in my experience, old television doesn't tend to be what guests request. They always want to see the latest episode of whatever, and in the TV realm, Hulu Plus rules there. In terms of total content, pertaining to Netflix vs. Amazon VOD's catalog (that available for free via a Prime account at no additional fee), Netflix handily wins:

well, i have cable on-demand, so I usually find new shows through amazon prime for free. If I like the show I get caught up and then watch the latest on-demand.

GoT
Justified
Hannibal
Orphan Black
The Americans

I did that will all of the above shows.

Amazon is pretty freakin awesome. Great shows, music, and delivery is fast. I did all of my Christmas shopping in the morning and the packages were delivered today free of charge. I thought about going to the mall to do my shopping then thought screw that.

I barely buy anything and I've only watched one movie. Not quite sure why I've had it for the past three years. Thanks for saving me some cash.

Amazon (with Prime) delivers my shit so fast sometimes that I actually feel guilty. Like, someone out there definitely had a more urgent order that could have been prioritized over mine. I really don't need to get my books or whatever within 24 hours of clicking "buy".

May be a Canadian thing.

I occasionally get packages within 24 hours. That's pretty awesome.

I don't know how they can afford me. Other places require a minimum order for free shipping or shipping costs are very high and it might take a week to get an order. I sometimes feel guilty about ordering an Item that costs less than $10. Sometimes I'll order several items and they ship them individually. Any problems are taken care of very quickly. Refunds are immediate.

I've watched a lot of their video. Read a few books and lots of magazines. It's well worth it to me.

I had Amazon Prime free trial before, but don't remember any impressive shipping back then. Have Amazon Prime now and am impressed by their per-for-mance with very promptly shipping and quick shipping especially if not shipped to PO Box where USPS will receive it, truck it to some other unrelated post office, then truck it back like dumbasses, or it'll sit somewhere for days. I like the Sunday deliveries too.
