Amazon Prime

I think someone mentioned that they're wise to that now as you need to use a credit card or debit card for authorization now for a free trial.
So unless you've got 50 cards lying about, that little tightwad scheme has died it's death.

I was doing the email "scam" about 6 months ago and it worked. The only reason I became a paying customer was because I wanted to buy movies, books, etc that are all accessed through the kindle via your account. So if I wanted to keep the stuff I purchased, then I'd need to keep the same account active.

I just finished watching Bosch which is an Amazon prime original series.... Not bad.

It's nice if you purchase a lot of things online. The Prime instant video is OK but nothing like Netflix. They have Always Sunny, Star Trek, and The Sopranos for free, so I am Ok w/ it for now

i like it. my orders arrive on time. no complaints.

use smile amazon and donate to your charity of choice when you're shopping..

For those of you who are given the option but don't know which one to go with, there are few better choices than Doctors Without Borders.

Sorry, but had to shill there. =)

The Sopranos and The Wire have been on my radar for a long time, and I no longer have an excuse not to watch them.

2 day shipping is the best if you order offline regularly. Amazon's customer service is also top notch.

I use their video service from time to time, comparable though lesser to Netflix.

Never messed with their book stuff even though I have a kindle and the kindle app.

It's really for the shipping in IMO. if you don't care about the shipping, Netflix is a better buy unless you are gonna use the book services a lot. But I thought they were breaking the book services off from prime and making them their own pay for program. Not sure.

i can transfer my credit card points to our prime account and its how i paid for xmas last year.

The shipping is definitely why I got it. The other stuff is just a bonus. It'll pay for itself within two or three weeks, and that's awesome.

If you order enough stuff from the website, the free shipping pays for itself. You might also want to think about getting a Prime credit card. Triple points on Amazon purchases and such.

For a minute there Amazon VOD looked like it was poised to rival Netflix, then Netflix's stock went through the roof again, so Netflix re-invested heavy money in copyright rentals and even original content, and the Fire Phone bombed.

Ever since the VOD has been little more than a nice perk to Prime membership, but not a serious competitor in terms of available content.

dude i think u got ripped off. my stuff always gets here or an amazon locker in 2 days

Same here. I've had one item out of the many that I've ordered that arrived on the 3rd day, but this was during the winter with bad snowstorms. It normally arrives late in the day on the 2nd day.

Definitely. Rarely do I check Prine video, but it's still nice to use every once in a blue moon. Makes the deal even sweeter.

I only use Amazon Instant. I stopped using Netflix a long time ago. They're pretty quick about getting the previous seasons available on Prime within a month of the newest season premiering.

Does Netflix have HBO shows yet? If not, then I don't even know how you can compare the two.

That was a big deal Amazon scored about a year ago. It's nice, but in my experience, old television doesn't tend to be what guests request. They always want to see the latest episode of whatever, and in the TV realm, Hulu Plus rules there. In terms of total content, pertaining to Netflix vs. Amazon VOD's catalog (that available for free via a Prime account at no additional fee), Netflix handily wins:

I purchased Amazon Prime today since I've been buying stuff online recently and was wondering what everyone's experience with it has been?

Free 2-Day shipping is pretty awesome. Haven't checked anything else out except the Kindle feature. Disappointed, only because it only works with Kindle devices. I figured it would be fine for my Kindle app. How's the streaming variety? I've got Netflix, so how does it stack up?

Works great for me. You made a solid purchase. I'm sure you will be satisfied with it. Better variety than Netflix in the streaming catalog imo. But, you will have to pay per title rather than a once a month fee. It can cost more. It doesn't bother me too much though. We don't spend a ton on it.

Yeah but Prime has Nick shows and my kids love them for that.

But neither one has a huge catalog of Pixar and Disney Movies. Why is that.
