Amazon prime shenanigans

The internet gives you all you want for free yet you decide to pay just for the fun of it. I would get it if your native language wasnt english that stuff is harder to come by but everything in english is super available. Cancel and send me 15 percent for saving you thousands in the next 10 years.
I know I could pirate it but I want to watch stuff on my big living room TV, not on my monitor screen.

And yes, I know about all the ways to get movies onto my big TV and they're all a hassle. I'll just watch Netflix. They don't fuck over their customers.

Various movies often seem to rotate among the various streaming services for limited time. Did these say "expiring soon?"

I started watching Heat, very long movie, on HULU, then expired and didn't bother watching the rest on another streaming service because I don't remember where I left off. Will just wait til HULU gets it again.

What's really fooked up is The Dreamers NC-17 is no longer available on Prime where at some point I added it to watchlist.
This is it. They rent the right to stream for a certain amount of time. Sometimes it's a few months, once I saw some movies/shows come and go in a matter of a week. It typically happens at the 1st of the month, though. Like today.

It seems like all of the streaming services have a rotating door of content that they bounce back and forth to eachother. A big list of the usual stuff will constantly move between them.

I will say that other than Tubi, Prime tends to have the best selection of older 30s-50s movies.

why start a movie if you don’t intend on watching the entire thing in one sitting? i support Amazon for punishing your household’s bullshit viewing habits tbh
I'm a busy guy. I very rarely get 2 hours straight of uninterrupted time.

My free time comes in little pockets. Kind of like Jared from Subway

I think i need to come live with you guys for a while until i get on my feet and you learn the fastest ways to connect pirate to your tv its really for the best.

Or maybe you guys are all accidentally renting movies the first time you watch part of them but are too not smart to realize it
No, it's a thing they're pulling on people now. I'm far too cheap to rent anything and they've pulled this move on me several times while I've been trying to enjoy my free Prime trials.

I think this has happened to me

However, I usually finish a movie once started

That's a good idea.

@William Huggins will you check your prime account and see if incendies is available?

I just did and I got a message......

It's said....

If you two cunts try and conspire against me again, remember I know where you live and next time that wanker Fedorgasm doesn't want to pay for a film it's going to be more than that pink vibrating butt plug he ordered last time that gets delivered if you know what I mean!!!

When is the last time you tried it and how old is your computer and tv?

If they are both newish (last few years) then casting from the computer to the TV should be like 3 or so click easy.

Click 'Settings' ...'Display'... 'Connect to Wireless display', (or some version of those), and then all automatically available displays, including modern TV's should be on a drop down list to connect to.

The first time it may give you a pairing code, or something to click on the TV to ensure you want this connection and it is not your neighbour connecting to it.

Re my above post, when i was on the road for work and traveling a lot more, i always had this in my travel bag.

Microsoft Display Adapter.

You plug that in to almost any TV with those ports (they all have them, that i have seen) and you can instantly then use the tv as a second monitor.

Dang, just their standard automated response again

Amazon is the worst at telling you when a movie or show is about to leave.

Streaming services have to pay for the movies they have and the catalog rotates unless it's an original. It's not intentional, they just don't have the rights anymore. Often they will recommend movies right before the rights expire to give you a last chance to watch it so maybe that's what happening. If you subscribe to a lot of services it probably just got added to one of them.

Have to rent or buy it on my account. I wouldn't put it past them to do shady shit, but my guess is that some of the free movies/shows might be on a short rotation based on viewership? It usually takes me a few sessions to finish a movie and I haven't had this issue yet as far as I can remember.

I'm not saying this is the case, but often movies that are about to leave prime are the ones prominently displayed on the front page. They typically list a date on when they're going away. That said, I'm fairly certain that I saw Incendies in that list of movies leaving prime sometime in the last week or so. For me, the only option is currently to rent.

I typically visit prime video via browser and there's almost always a section on the main page showing tv series or films that will be leaving prime soon. I think the caption above those changes from time to time, but it's always something like "last chance to watch" or maybe "leaving prime soon." Right now, it's "last chance to watch," and it's a hell of a way down the page. About 36 rows worth of content down to be exact. Occasionally it is displayed pretty close to the top though.

Anyone in 2024 who doesn't believe algorithms use specific targeted practice is a fucking dunce.

Now it says I can watch for free on Tubi with ads.

That's strange, that option wasn't there yesterday

Please please please review Incendies here once you finish watching it.

The Venn diagram overlap of people who watch Incendies, but also don't know how streaming services work and therefore think that there is a massive conspiracy against them, is exceedingly small. Your opinion on the film will be a contribution to science.

Thank you for your consideration.
