Germaine is actually way better than a white belt and had a DEEP triangle attempt on Amanda herself. I actually like Pena's chances against Mandy. Bookmarked, tbh.
the figure posted is for longest single title reigns in the ufc, so regaining the championship doesnt add. aldo became fw champ of wec in 2009. he was promoted to ufc champ in november 2010.Impressive stuff from Nunes, but it seems like a miscount of Aldo's time as champ.
Aldo became FW champ in November 2009 and lost his belt in December 2015. So just over six years as champ.
6 x 365 = 2190, plus another thirty days or so to be exact. Plus he spent another 11 months as champ in 2016-2017, so add roughly 330 days. He spent about about 2500 days as FW champ of the world. He should be number one on this list, unless it is counting longest streak as champ without losing the belt, in which case he should be number two.
I think Nunes could top this list eventually if she can stay focused and healthy. She's a great champ.
Facts. She didn't pass shit Aldo has 7 defenses fighting FPW elites. She has 5 beating up random women with some ufc shorts onWhy are they on the same chart? It's 2 different levels. Split that public agenda off and put her on the amateur chart with the rest of subpar fighters.
Why look at it as comparing, rather than a list of stats?
Wayne Gretzky virtually owns the NHL record book. Yet he's not #1 in every statistic. Stats tell a lot, but not everything. Bobby Orr and Peter Forsberg had their careers cut short. They put up monster numbers while they played, but are never going to be close to all-time career numbers.
Don't we have eyes? Stats don't do this.
Yes, but your expectation that she defend belts more frequently, and bitching about how often she does it ignores the fact that the chart excludes active fighting, training and defending of in that second weight class. The fact that it's comparing her track record in that one weight class doesn't magically obliterate her activity on the second one from the reality in our universe of existence. You realize this entire chart is based on the Women's BW title right? So everything you said is irrelevant and doesn't apply.
And even then, okay since she beat Miesha Tate on July 9th, 2016 for his first title, the BW title - She has fought 9 times since, as recent as March 2021. She fights Pena sometime soon? Was supposed to be this weekend, but she got Covid. Okay let's just pretend she did fight this weekend, so that's 10 fights in 6 years basically. She's still averaging less than 2 fights per year on top of context where she's fought cans on had 1st round finishes in every recent fight more or less.
She shouldn't have some magical entitlement to never defend her BW title. The answer is that women's BW fucking sucks and there's no challengers. She should have to fight Valentina, who arguably beat her before and had two close fights with her...who is also in the same situation of having no real challengers. But instead she's fighting cans and now Juliana Pena who's 1-1 in her last two fights and got subbed by Germaine de White belt lmao.
you counting the days that nunes is passing aldo by? lol poor kid
This list doesn't seem right..Amanda Nunes as passed Jośe Aldos title reign she is now the fourth in longest individua titleView attachment 871909 reign

Yes, but your expectation that she defend belts more frequently ignores, and bitching about how often she does it the fact that the chart excludes active fighting, training and defending of belts. Jose Aldo only had to fight and defend in one weight class. I'm not saying that she never has to defend, but if the standard for any weight class champ is that they defend a couple times a year, then expecting her to defend more than once a year, BW, an imaginary shortcoming that you pulled out of your ass.

Quite simply because the record is for UFC title reigns. And that's what the numbers represent. No one is down playing anything. These are records.I understand the technicality they are trying to highlight, but to downplay Aldo's time as WEC champ is disrespectful both to him and to the division he dominated. Becoming UFC champ wasn't really a promotion from being WEC champ. And there was no real transfer of belts or interruption to Aldo's title reign.
Why make a distinction where there is no difference?
Still. A two minute warmup against Rousey or Megan Anderson is closer to a heavy bag round than an actual fight.Defending two different titles…
