scheduling is always loose. Everyone has ideas of when they want to do things out when it's far out but as it gets close it's harder to predict.

So then it wasn't always planned for November and the goal posts have already been moved because we're just playing it by ear. So if it doesn't get done in November, do we just move the goal posts again?

It's basically just ignoring context in the moment. What's to stop us from, in the moment come August, saying it's been over 1 year since Tom defended, but less than 1 since Jon did, so we can strip him? Or if the UFC does get an Aspinall-Gane fight booked, then they can just do something similar to what they did with Pereira-Ank-Rountree, where they book one fight and then go "Oh, jeez, I guess that main event is booked already, so we'll just have to find a different opponent now" and Jones defends against Almeida or something?

Point is, you just can't view every moment as "Well it doesn't matter why Jones-Aspinall isn't happening yet, because we're clearly going to be moving towards it now," when "now" was "then" a few minutes ago.

That's not how that sentence reads at all.

"You think A:[narcissist] cares about B:[your] tweets?"
"A:[Elon] cared about B:[these] tweets."

The example he used is in the A/Narcissist subject, not the B/Tweeting subject. If he said "Trump got upset about Elon's tweets" then yes, he'd be comparing himself to Elon.

We can hope that's what they'd do.

When Francis said he wasn't ready for his defense, they took just 3 months from his last fight to create an interim. When GDR made it clear 3 months after winning the title that she wouldn't defend against Cyborg, she got stripped just 4 months after winning it. It doesn't need a minimum time to lapse to strip him, they just need to know he's not going to do the fight. So we just have to assume Jon was lying every time he directly said or even implied he wouldn't. Which isn't a far stretch with Jon, but still, the lack of a strip already isn't evidence that it will get done, but the lack of an announcement is evidence they they couldn't get it done.

No shit, you really did help me out by increasing the text size. I'm not sure how you knew but my left contact lens fell out this morning and I haven't replaced it yet so text is a little blurry. The increased font size did make it easier to read but unfortunately with the increased font the content was still dumb.

Ok, I might be reading you wrong since you didn't help me out with the font size this time, but since you claim to understand with all of your brain cells my comments in this thread, is it safe to assume you will be flooding Dana White's X DMs with your feelings on Tom Aspinall thinking it will make a difference?

People thinking Jones/Pereira is bigger than Jones/Aspinall are wrong imo. It won't sell more and it's not the "bigger event".

And that's NOT because I'm saying Aspinall has anywhere near the fanbase or cache that Poatan has.

It IS because Jones would be the A side either way and this Jones/Aspinall situation has taken on a life of its own. Petitions, people spamming Dana and Jones demanding answers...this matters when it comes to the event itself. I have friends that are casuals who didn't know who Aspinall was really up until recently. Now they're asking me why Jones won't fight him and is scared. "Is this dude really that good?"

This is a case where the event itself would be bigger even with having a lesser known opponent for Jones.

And of course all Jon's statements that clearly say that he doesn't need to fight anymore, especially not Aspinall, he's moved on to other things and he has an 'amazing brand' to focus on. He's living his best life which does not include fighting Tom, but if you think he's lying and that your magical thinking is more accurate, go for it but you're going to get tagged hard when he finally gets stripped. There will be a sherdog price to pay for all this nonsense.
