Well…we all have our opinions and favorite fighters, so to each their own I guess. It won’t surprise you probably to know that I totally disagree. I rank Stipe as the #2 HW all time, but honestly I question that the more that time passes as I don’t think his resume has aged all that well at all. Those metrics are largely irrelevant when you consider the people he fought. Stipe fought better competition and it really isn’t that close. Time has passed.
Not to mention stipe KO’d a better version of a fighter who beat fedor in his prime. Even the head to head comparisons, stipe’s wins were far more one sided and devastating.
He fought Arlovski 7 years after Fedor did, and Hunt 9 years after Fedor did. He’s got the 2016 version of Overeem. He initially fought a version of JDS that was declining but still somewhat close to prime, and couldn’t beat him; it was finally the 2017 version that he beat. I don’t want to shit too much on Werdum as he was champ, but again fought him 6 years after Fedor did when Werdum was 37. Cormier fights are fine I suppose as both guys were close to 40 years old; definitely not a case of beating prime Cormier, but even playing field as both were past their best.
Eh. Fedor has a better resume than Miocic to me by a good margin.
