Minotauro at 25 is a disgrace.
If Anderson Silva would’ve retired before Weidman he would be up there too. Same with Fedor, if he retired before Werdum he would be the GOAT.
But why????? I never understood this logic.

So quitting the sport young and going out on top should be more respected than a warrior who continues to fight and take risks?

Anderson and Fedor did not have their accomplishments erased when their title reigns finally came to an end. Anderson and Fedor continued to fight past advanced age and advanced mileage. It wouldn't make them any higher ranked if they quit the sport sooner at 32 like GSP and Khabib did. I respect them for continuing to take risks

It's indeed an stupid sherbro logic. Nobody in the boxing community discredits Sugar Ray Robinson for his 19 losses most of them later in his career. He is still widely recognized as the GOAT. Same goes for Muhammad Ali

I voted Fedor at the time of the poll. Leaning more towards Jones now.

Nobody fights killers every single time, but "killers" is subjective anyway

What's undeniable is the quality of GSP's opponent
Well that's what was posted and it's what I replied to.

And his opponents were extremely overrated up until the Strikeforce merge

Quality of Usman's challengers were arguably > GSP's title defenses for the title.

Usman was almost on the way there (imagine if Usman won the Edwards 2nd fight because holy fuck did that head kick change everything) and if he beat Chimaev, he would have clinched it.

But what a shame.

He just got Penned
Were they though?

He fought Colby twice.

Colby has no current top 10 wins, if he had any when they fought it was Masvidal who is like 1-7 vs the current top 15

And Masvidal 2x, who is a former LW with a .500 record at WW, with every single one of those wins over someone who is retired or cut.

The Burns win is legit.

GSP beat

Hughes 2x, Matt won 9 title fights as I recall. How many title fights did Usmans entire collection of challengers win? (1 bs interim)

BJ Penn 2x

2 division champ who won 5 ufc title fights iirc

Wrecked Jon Fitch 50-44 on a long fucking win streak, double digits iirc, and Fitch kept winning afterwards

Nick Diaz, SF WW champ with multiple defenses

Jake Shields, SF champ who beat Hendo in a sf title bout

Etc, since GSP won double digit title fights, not 6.

GSP ducked Woodley to fight Bisping because he felt Bisping was the easier fight
Wat????????????????????

GSP most certainly did not duck Woodley. GSP wanted to win a championship at a 2nd weight class. That was it. He was very clear that he was coming back specifically to win the 185 title.

I'm fine with anyone but khamzat getting a titleshot I'd give it to wonderboy first

Capturing a 2nd title in a higher division and answering criticism that he never tried to move up.
vs.
Regaining a belt he chose to walk away from, that he had defended many times, in a division he ruled over for years and in which he was already the GOAT.

One of those things is a big legacy boost...and it isn't beating Woodley.

There is no denying that Bisping was a favourable opportunity for the move up...but the 'ducking Woodley' claim is just silly.

Agreed. When GSP was the WW Champ which ended in 2013, Woodley had never risen to top contender status or they would have fought. GSP's main training partner, Rory MacDonald fought Woodley in 2014 at the tender age of 24 and won a lopsided 30-27 30-27 and 30-27 decision. GSP had no reason to duck Woodley as he would have outworked Woodley and easily won that fight had GSP been interested or pushed to do so based upon Woodley earning a title bout opportunity. GSP wanted to be a two division champion as you correctly stated with a new belt at either 185 or 155. So when GSP returned from retirement in 2017 he took the Bisping fight and won. THE END.

He couldn't be more wrong Dana literally said they aren't giving woodley the at Pierre fight because of how bad the Maia fight was
