All Time GOAT poll

As far as directly matching the guys up who could be matched up, say in an open weight fight, all in their absolute primes (meaning their best day, of their best month, of their overall best year)....

Prime Fedor vs Prime Jones - Fedor overwhelms him, gets a hold of him, flips him to the ground and either subs him or TKOs him.

Prime Fedor vs Prime Anderson - Fedor utterly overwhelms him, grabs a hold of him, and ragdolls him. TKO

Prime Jones vs Prime Anderson - I lean towards JJ purely based on physical superiority. Both men circle, jab and kick, take their shots, but ultimately JJ wins a UD.

Prime Anderson vs Prime GSP - If it stays on the feel, Anderson wins. If it goes to the ground GSP could lay on him for 5 rounds. Can GSP get it to the ground? I lean towards Anderson via TKO.

Prime GSP vs Prime Khabib - Unkown. Hopefully this fight actually happens someday. (I can't gauge their ground games as both are second to none with wrestling, but on the feet I think GSP is superior)

Prime Khabib vs Prime Aldo - Great fight, though I lean towards Khabib either via later round GnP TKO or UD.

Prime Aldo vs Prime Mighty Mouse - Aldo via not being a midget.

GSP only had one bad performance/close fight in his big title run. Jon has now had 3 "Hendricks" moments where he has looked very mortal and possibly decision should have gone other way.

Even ignoring jon's steroid use gotta give it to gsp.

No fighter has beat as many highly ranked opponents as dominantly as he has.
Lol wut? In fact many goat candidates have far better resumes. We're talking guys with double digit title defenses.

Get outta here with Conor as the goat.

The human highlight reel, prime vs prime the best ever. The knockout king, the matrix man, the greatest of all time..

Anderson “The Spider” Silva.

With GSP retired now, who do you think is the all time greatest at this time?

GSP

Fedor

Anderson Silva

Jon Jones

Mighty Mouse

Aldo

If your selection for the greatest fighter of all time is not in the poll, feel free to vote for other explain why.

Why not Khabib?

I'll repeat myself:

GSP is the GOAT,

26-2 in MMA, 20-2 in the UFC,
Avenged both loses,
Holds record for the most UFC title wins (13),
Tied first for the most UFC title fights (15),
Tied second for the most UFC wins (20),
Tied third for the most consecutive UFC title defenses (9),
Most UFC title defenses in Welter Weight history (9),
Two division champion,
Did not lose a round between 2007 (Matt Serra) and 2011 (Jake Shields),
Second for the most consecutive rounds won (33),
Won first belt in 2006, last belt in 2018, on top for 12 years,
Never failed a drug test.
Retired on top.

Want more?

Most wins by 50-45 decisions in UFC history (12)
Most takedowns landed in UFC History (90)
Most strikes landed in UFC history (2591)
Most sig. strikes landed in UFC WW History (1254)
3rd highest Sig. Strikes defense in UFC history (73.1%)
3rd highest TD accuracy in UFC History (73.8%) - 1st among wrestlers since the two in front of him are strikers (Robbie and Taleb)

Anyone who disagrees with GSP being the GOAT, disagrees with facts.
That's just numbers, and stuff and it's all relative due to context.
Can you imagine Khabib losing to another mortal man?

Why not Khabib?

He's getting there, but not quite yet.
If he can beat Ferguson and Gaethje tho, he would have cleaned the 155 lbs division, the hardest in the sport with WW. It would then be hard to deny him a top 5 spot, at the very least.
Of all the current fighters on the roster, he has, IMO, the best shot to dethrone the GOAT, GSP. But I have to put my boy above Khabib, for the time being.

I kind of respect the fact that you joined in 2008 and still are white belt. Proves you don't spend your days on this forum unlike most of the individuals here.

To reply, yes it's all relative due to context, but isn't that always the case when we discuss P4P rankings?
I truly believe longevity plays a huge role in these rankings.
It's "easy" to win a bet and defend it 2-3 times.
Fighting N.1 contenders for a decade straight is way more valuable than dominant performances in my opinion.

Cheers

Why not Khabib?

Khabib has like 3 top 5 wins and two title defenses. Talent wise he's up there, but he has a ways to go before he can be mentioned in the same sentence as Jones, GSP, Fedor, or Silva.

Jon Goat Jones, even Rogan refers to him as the Goat
You know we always like to use that term 'once in a lifetime'... Once in a lifetime does not apply to Ronda Rousey. It's once ever, in human history. There's never been a woman like her. Her ability to, not just beat great fighters, but destory them. She's like a superhero. I mean she really is a freak of existence.

When Ronda Rousey leaves the sport you may never see someone like her again, not just in mixed martial arts, but in any sport.

Fedor. But IMO, the GOAT should be a HW. This "moving up in weight" argument seems trivial when compared to a weight class that ranges from 205 to 265. Also, there's something to be said for the fact that theoretical "pound for pound" arguments aside, the guy that could kick the $#!+ out of anybody else on earth is probably a heavyweight. Just seems weird to me to say GSP was the GOAT, even though Fedor could've beaten him up.

I remember watching Fedor starting back in Pride and GSP debuting in UFC. Both are awesome.....but I lean toward Fedor.
