I'm a Canadian and a big fan of GSP myself

But I'm sick of the mentality that you lose then you are out of the GOAT discussion. People give Fedor a hard time for having late career losses and disregard his goat run which is bullshit.

I was so shocked when GSP barely won his last fight and then announced he was retiring ... almost spontaneously due to the lackluster performance. GSP was good back in the day but his last fights were never ending jab fest point collecting runs. Fedor annihilated top fighters back in his day hardly ever going to the judges

For these things I hold Fedor higher

He neutralized every opponent but Hendricks. For every round of every fight bar his two losses.

His nickname is 'Rush' for a reason. He was brutally taking out opponents in the first or second round right up until his second fight with Serra. Sure, he may have played it a bit safe after that fight, buy so did Aldo for his last 5 defenses or so.

I'm going with GSP over Fedor simply because of the level of comp he beat. Newbies might look at his record and downplay his record now, but at the time guys like Alves, Penn, Shields and Condit were straight up killers.

WW was, and probably my still is, the most stacked division purely because the average guy is a welterweight frame.

A small population of folks are heavyweight by frame (many are HW because of being fat), and Fedor also was fighting a shitload of cans between his big fights (Big Nog, Cro Cop, Arlovski, Sylvia ect). GSP only ever had one easy fight in the UFC in Hardy, but he was the top contender by way of GSP having already best everyone else in the top 5 at the time.

He lost to Hendricks. GSP is among the greatest, but Fedor is still king. DC was almost there, but lost to the future (or New era) Goat: Jones!

Actually, he beat Hendricks. Check fight finder. 1, 3 & 5 for GSP, but I will admit I thought GSP lost on my first viewing. I've watched the fight since and GSP definitely won 3 rounds to 2. He absorbed more punishment than Hendricks, but that isn't a scoring criteria, which I don't necessarily agree with, but it's the reality of the unified scoring system.

If the Rushmore is just the best fighters he is on it.. GSP, Anderson, Jones, Fedor... But he is not the GOAT IMO.. No UFC..

Dude we've been over this so many times. The ufc never had the best hw division until they absorbed srikeforce, where Fedor was already fighting. Why would he have to fight in the ufc, when in his prime the best hws were in other orgs?

Multiple top ranked hws left or tried to leave their promotion just to fight Fedor.

You may be right. Very close fight on stats, but in my heart Hendricks still won
