GSP's last WW fight was at the age of 32 and he came back for a single MW fight at the age of 36 to fight a 39 year old.
If Fedor did the same his record would either be 32-1 or 31-2, depending on if he won or lost.

Those are just statistical facts.

At 37 GSP won the UFC MW title.

At that age Fedor was busy losing in the bum leagues.

But again, if Fedor did what GSP did he would've retired with a record of 31-2 even if he lost that single fight.

You are giving GSP accolades for literally not even competing. For all you know if GSP continued fighting from 2014-2016 he could've lost 4 fights in a row. You have no idea. That's why taking a fighters losses into account, in the grand scheme of things, makes absolutely no sense. No other sport fan base thinks this way. The only thing people talk about in other sports is the amount of championships. How many times you lost in those championships is irrelevant.

I always use this example. Joe Montana has a Super Bowl record of 4-0. Tom Brady has a Super Bowl record of 6-3. Who had the better career? Tom Brady has competed in more championships and has won more championships, but he almost has as many Super Bowl losses as Joe Montana has victories. Joe Montana however is undefeated in the Super Bowl. Does this make Joe Montana's career better? No, the guy who won more championships had the better career. It doesn't matter if he lost a bunch of them too.

Ok lets say Fedor did just that and retire at 31-2. GSP still has more than 2 times the top 5 wins than Fedor has. You can't just look at records. How many bums did he fight for those 31 wins? GSP fought about 2 bums in his whole career.

I don't mean to shit on Fedor. He is just next to GSP in my GOAT list. GSP just has a better resume imo, in what is statistically a top 2 stacked division all time.

Although I never really liked him as a fighter my objective answer is GSP. It would have been Anderson if not for the doping.

While I think GSP is among the greatest to ever do it, I really hate the top 5 and top 10 stats GSP is blessed with because it's so skewed in his favour.

Unlike every other division, the 170 division didn't exist in PRIDE. What that means is that for a very long time the rankings of HW were split between two different organizations. Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski were ranked top 5 and Fedor wasn't able to fight them until PRIDE was dissolved. So while it's technically true all the best 170 fighters have always been in the UFC, for a very long time top 5 WWs were names like Mike Swick, Chris Lytle, Karo Parisyan, etc. Guys when they went overseas actually lost a whole lot, but did well in the UFC because at the time the division was so incredibly thin because most of the best fighters at the time jumped ship to fight at 161 or 183 in Japan. Which means the guys that used to be top 5 WWs fighters, like Frank Trigg, were no longer ranked at 170 at all giving their top 5 ranking to guys that hadn't actually earned it.

So again while I think GSP has had an incredibly impressive career, his top 5 and top 10 stats are very very very inflated.

I mean the #2 WW for years was Jon Fitch, and Fitch has only fought 1 top 5 fighter in his entire career. Thiago Alves.
How does a multiple year #2 fighter in a division never fight top 5 fighters? It shouldn't even be possible.

Silva could have gone down to 170 to fight GSP since he had fought at 168 not long before. But he was too scared to fight GSP at 170, he NEEDED to be bigger and on roids, lol

I don't count end of career fights against legends. Fedor and Anderson are losing now that they are in their 40's...so what? Most fighters end up fighting too long and will lose to guys they wouldn't have in their prime. GSP doesn't get to be labeled as "the best fighter" for avoiding fighting just because he retired at 32.
 
Jones is the guy I dislike most on a personal level on that whole list, but we just need to be honest, he's the most naturally gifted MMA fighter since a prime Fedor. Goat during their primes are Jones, Fedor and Silva.
 
Jon Jones has mopped the floor with the best competition. Clearly the greatest cagefighter ever
 
GSP retired, so current GOAT is Johnson. Fedor and Anderson should retire, and Jones* is ineligible. Aldo is in the conversation for sure.

GSP didn't retire at 32, he retired at 37. He just took a long ass break.

But yeah, it does put Georges ahead of Fedor and Anderson.

GSP set the standard of beating every fighter you ever fought.

With regards to GOAT, you have to be as close to perfect as humanly possible. Anderson and Fedor have too many unavenged losses and losses in general.

A huge part of having a great career is knowing when to quit.

Also, GOAT is career spanning and not just primes. The whole thing gets factored in.
