You know how these things work. Fedor and GSP have been 1A and 1B for a while now with Fedor enjoying the edge. However recency means a lot in these polls. Right after GSP beat Bisping and added 2 Diviskion Champ to his resume, the poll had GSP ahead. Right after Fedor beat Frank Mir they did another poll and he retook the lead. Now with GSp retiring and Fedor losing to Bader, GSp is ahead again. If Fedor had beat Bader, he would be ahead.

They are rightly 1A and 1B and there is no wrong answer. In time, as GOAT discussions should be considered with some distance from the careers of the fighters, we will see who is truly considered the GOAT. Right now, it is both of them, and rightly so.

I like your explanation and I agree with you bro, they are the two best to ever do it. I always just say fedor cus heavyweight > other weight classes but p4p GSP is right there next to him. both great ambassadors for the sport too

Fedor the GRAPPLER was a GOAT. Fedor the striker not so much.

The takedown threat and threat of getting "Nog'd" was a big reason he was so successful striking - and he hit hard as fuck, with rapid speed and explosiveness. Once the takedown threat was gone, opponents could pretty much ascertain with certainty that it was a kickboxing match.

When Fedor was with Russian Top Team he was pretty spectacular. It didn't really last long...

This is not boxing. Boxing takes more skill so it makes sense to compare skills between weight classes.

This is fighting fighting.

The GOAT is 100% Fedor. And after Fedor it's not GSP or Anderson, it's someone like Big Nog, or Werdum or Cain.

GSP is the WW GOAT without a question. MM is the flyweight GOAT, Aldo is the FW GOAT, LW, MW and LHW are up for grabs, although DC is probably the LHW GOAT, and a strong contender at HW too.

Anderson and Jones just the GOAT cheaters, and that's not a cute nickname, they are the actual GOAT cheaters. Anderson is only second to Jones, and Jones is second to none.

Only 7 of GSP's fights were non top 10 (ALL FIGHTS)

And unlike Fedor, once he came to the major leagues, he had no gimme fights.

Secondly, that's barely a 1/3rd of his opponents.

Thirdly, virtually every fighter has no name fights early in their carer...because they themselves were no name.

The thing to look at is who they fought when they finally made it BIG TIME

GSP never fought a Zuluzhino or Ogawa or Ishii or Jaideep when he was in the UFC. It was all killers
