Since the world seems to be in a New Age Space Race with China going to the moon and India going to Mars and such, i figured we can use this thread to just talk about everything that related to such things.

so cheese, watcha wanna talk about.....

Today Private Company Space X launched its new Falcon 9 rocket to carry a commercial satellite.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lit up the night sky over Florida Tuesday (Dec. 3) in a landmark communications satellite mission that catapulted the private spaceflight company into the commercial launch business.

The*upgraded Falcon 9 rocket launched into space*from SpaceX's pad at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on a mission to deliver the 3.2-ton SES-8 communications satellite into orbit. The liftoff at 5:41 p.m. EST (2241 GMT) marked SpaceX's first entry into the large commercial satellite market and its first launch into a geostationary transfer orbit needed for such a mission.

We now have Companies doing what only Nations could do before.

You should post a few moons or something. Maybe a galaxy cluster too.

I just posted it. Space X is taking over right now. They are gonna be one powerful company in a few yrs. I could see them launching satellites for counties all over the world but wonder if the US will put reserctions on them.

do you think space exploration can advance at a faster rate with private companies>Nasa

I think so. As long as Gov't don't stand in the way but Space X and even Virgin and its private space flights are going to move the space race forward as they develop new ships for people and products, so they can turn a profit and money drives everything faster

^ I find Venus to be highly captivating. It's such a mystery. Kind of like a really hot science babe.

Ive seen what Virgin is doing and it's fascinating. but my fear lies in the fact that these private companies will be pursuing profit building ventures like travel, and with Nasa's funding cut will we really be furthering out knowledge of the universe or just flying rich people into the exosphere.

Thats something to worry about for sure. But I believe better ships will come from what they are doing. Like when cars first came out. Sooner or later better one followed and we begain to undertsand cars better and how to make more efficent one. So better ships will sooner or later be able to carry people deeper into space by this. I hope

^Titan is the one I was looking for!

Perhaps the purpose of existence and philosophical thought is to seed the universe.

Titan is more interesting to me than most plants because it's geological and atmospheric make up resemble earths more closely than anything else in our solar system

How does that happen. What causes the stars, planets, dust,etc... to just leave the big area empty. Is there some sort of dark matter pocket sitting there that we can't see.

Yeah, Titan and Europa are the more interesting moons. I read that NASA planned to send a probe to Europa that would dig into the ice to search for an ocean. This was during the 80's or 90's though and like many other highly interesting missions, the plans were scrapped. Though, they are sending a probe to Europa in 2022.

I can stare at those pics of galaxies and shit all day. Total beauty mindfuck.

I know they're digitally enhanced but still...

I love space and everything about it.
If that voyage to mars was legit, I would go today.
