All Things Space

That is weird , cant quite grasp that one. Trying though...

I guess by definition the present can only exist if there is a past and future to measure it against.

But still that leaves the future as an Idea , the present as an objective absolute and the past as something at least more substantial than the pure fiction realm that is future.

My judgement stands.

There is the present and it flows into the past , but there is no future.

Plug this into your equation

i dont think anyone is going to mars anytime soon.
that would be something special.

the moon is like walking up the street. not a big deal at all.

landing on mars would be major.

space is no big deal, just the distance from A to B.

Now TIME on the other hand, that shit will warp your mind. We have a real rudimentary understanding of time at this point. We know that traveling at light speed will make u age slower than mufuckers sittin still, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.

WTF is time all about? What IS that shit?

general relativity.

time is also slower in massive areas, like if you were to hang out at the local black hole.

why is space so cold?

It's not, if you're anywhere near a star.

I just listened to a Neil Degrasse Tyson podacst...he said if you leave the earth's atmosphere and don't have a suit on, the part of your body facing the sun would be over 200 degrees.....but the other half of your body would be way below zero. So half your body would burn up, the other half would freeze with no atmosphere to stop or disperse the sun's rays. Crazy shit.

Supenova SN 2006gy, the largest supernova ever observed. the start was 150 times larger than our sun, and happened 260 million years ago.

Magnetars. a phenomenon that occurs when a dying sun shrinks to a wad of mass just dozens of kilometers in size thus creating a magnetic force causing it to spin uncontrollably, which in turn causes a magnetic field a million billion times that of earth.

one of Jupiters moons, LO, has more volcanic activity than any other body in the solar system due to jupiters gravity constantly pulling on it. and it appears to be molding

Voyager 1 launched in 1977, has reached the edge of our solar system and is projected to be operational until 2025. after that it will continue its journey as a "silent ambassador carrying a vinyl record with information about our planet, people and coordinates.

I'm still waiting to see evidence of a black hole existing outside mathematical formulas, namely some sort of direct observation. I know I heard somewhere scientists thought they were getting close to that...but still no dice. Seeing a specific object actually disappear would be helpful to such a bizarre conceptual space phenomena.

I read somewhere a while ago, that scientists were working on making "micro black holes" using the LHC, which would in turn would substantiate their hypothetical existence but not fully replicate their hypothesis

Yeah, I have come across versions of that as well, but I'm not really sure how immediately expiring objects (or almost instantly expiring) give credence to the bigger theory. I still don't exactly know what the hadron collider was creating as far as the black hole idea goes, but I do remember the hoopla surround the scientific minority opinion that the collider was a idea because of this.

I'm not really sure what would be weirder, if black holes did or did not exist, considering they seem to be the razors edge of where our known physics models begin and end.

yeah, whenever i attempt to understand these types of "breakthroughs" , I'm left with more questions than answers. Math has never been my strong suit, so naturally theoretical physics is well beyond my comprehension
