I'm a big fan of Don Bluths work. His films don't have a big impact on me anymore, but as a child they great.

A baby dinosaur being orphaned during a migration forced by a mass-scale natural disaster before struggling to not be eaten ain't dark enough for you?

Sheesh, man. The movie is about coping with death, and learning to survive through teamwork by making friends when your only support system is ripped away. It's not exactly light stuff.

It was more a protagonist vs nature whereas All Dogs was giving our most trusted animal companions humanity and all the foul stuff that went with it, crime, murder, child exploitation...oh and the whole eternal damnation and ticking clock of of own mortality.
