The only reason I've heard of the guy is because the obsession of him in the War Room. It's hilarious how angry some of these people are over Jussie when the rich, elites and celebrities of the world have been getting away with so much for a very long time. For some reason I suspect if someone like Trump was getting away with something some of the people in here raging would be celebrating.

So his lawyer is claiming there was no deal and the charges were just dropped, likely because there was no evidence of wrongdoing.

And the prosecutors office is saying there was a deal (but it was entirely verbal with no written record or acceptance of guilt) and the charges were dropped because he had already received his “punishment”.


The Prosecuter here seems like he actually has no way to counter the defence lawyers claims, as he has no evidence what he says happened in fact occurred, and no response it’s exists.

I would have expected lawyers to have, if not comprehensive documentation, at least some written agreement of facts.

Surprisingly few people get off like Jussie did. Well connected people go down all the time, and “getting off” means usually a lighter sentence or plea to a lesser charge (e.g. Richard Epstein). Jussie’s case is unusual, even among the most atrocious miscarriage of justices.

to me it's demoralising because it shows the cronyism in Chicago is so brazen that they don't give a fuck. How many high level politicians in Illinois need to go down for corruption before they get their shit together. That has consequences beyond the Jussie Smollett bs. Having faith in key institutions goes to the very heart of having rule of law.

It reminds me of white collar crime, where a hedge fund manager will conspire to rob folks of millions of dollars, ruin lives, take that money and spend it on trips and yachts. And when they get caught, they only get like 2-4 years and spend their time in some cushy jail. Yet some broke kid in the ghetto sells some weed or commits petty theft and gets twice the time. Having money and having connections is everything there. If this wasn't some celebrity liked by Obama's family, Kamala Harris and others, this wouldn't be happening. US justice system is fucked up.
