This is what, unfortunately, leads to some nutcase out there seeing this happen and taking the Law into his own hands.

If the Justice System has no Justice, then where will the "Justice" come from?

This can open up an even better shitstorm. I hope Kim Foxx believes protecting Smollett from facing consequences for his actions is worth everything that is coming her way in forms Of media scrutiny and likely some investigations into her office. Starting with political interference and conflict of interest in this process.

It would still be lame but my reaction to this would be significantly different if he admitted what he’d done and apologized. It would be a slap on the wrist but they gave a defiant criminal a sweetheart deal you give to weak but remorseful people, wiped his record clean, and sent him on his way to pretend like he’s done nothing wrong. This should piss everybody off.

This was definitely suppressed at some or many levels. It wasn't because it'd be a hassle, it's because he has many friends with connections and they weren't ashamed to use them.
And yes i think Trump is a shady human being
 
What sucks the most is that we were supposed to get to see all of this play out as they were allowing cameras in the court room. Not to mention all of this other evidence that the police had.

It's like getting excited for a big UFC fight and then some dumb ass tears his knee up tripping over something that he couldn't see due to the fact that he is wearing sunglasses where there was no sunlight.
 
Well, at least this isn’t openly corrupt..
