We could not find any record of Smollett doing community service.

How can someone who had previously excused herself come back to drop the charges? It's a rock solid case, they can't fucking drop like it was nothing. CPD are even saying they have more on him. I don't think this will be the end of it, imo this was a pretty fucking stupid attempted to burry this mess he created. And lol he already did community service... yeah, for something else!!!!

And as has been pointed out, the corruption in the city isn't usually this public and this blatant. Usually it's done quietly with the press as cover and everyone is onboard. Not a Rahm smokescreen rant and supt blasting the prosecutor. Someone else is at risk here if it goes to trial. His big politically connected lawyers must have reached out and let this person or persons know that they would be named in a trial. Someone who he might have said put him to it. Someone or multiple people very important to the Democrats. My money is on Harris. She's the Dem establishment pick for 2020 and closest to Foxx and Smollett. But Michelle Obama is up to her neck in this too.

Jussie Smollett says he's certain ... the 2 men in the surveillance photo released by police are way more than persons of interest ... they are the men who screamed homophobic and racist epithets at him, tied a noose around his neck, poured bleach on him and beat him.

I think the major problem is public image. This is hardly more corrupt than is the norm for Chicago law enforcement, but it’s got so much publicity that it’s making the city look ridiculous, which causes reputation loss. Make the city synonymous with corruption in such a visible national way, it’s not surprising the mayor is pissed. If there was no press, on the other hand, he wouldn’t care at all.
