News Aljamain Sterling Pulls Out of UFC 307 Fight with Movsar Evloev Due to Sparring Injury

Not sure if what he said is true but his words were the UFC medical staff advised him he can't fight. So sounds like it wasn't his decision. Hopefully this opens up thiings for Lopes to rematch Movsar and he gets a title shot off of a win.
Thats the way it works, the UFC has doctors they work with all over the world that check the fighters(sometimes as a second opinion if the fighter was seen by another doctor first) and inform the UFC if the fighter is able or not to compete, but that has never stopped sherdog.

I mean that's obviously a careful and strategic way of phrasing it lol.

To illicit the reaction you just gave..
That's why I said "Not sure if true". There have been times the UFC or a commission made the decision and not the fighter. Max stepping in to fight Khabib is an example albeit a weight cutting issue not medical. Max also withdrew from UFC 226 vs Ortega but he was fighting with his team and the UFC to stay on the fight. Those were both cases where the decision was seemingly made for him.

With Dana White not being overly keen on Sterling it wouldn't take much prdding to get an answer IMO.

It's probably the classic doc says "I wouldn't recommend it but you can fight" and then 9/10 fighters go through with the fight

Docs would never ever recommend something and end up being liable. They always err on the side of caution.

Don’t expect fair opinions on almost anything to do with Aljo. A big percentage of posters here will NEVER give him his due. Because he beat the “darling” if the BW division by DQ.

They can be pissed about that. But Aljo came back to beat Yan (again), Dillishaw, and Cejudo.

I expect all kinds of excuses, but he won those fights.

All three were ex-UFC Champions. That’s it, that’s all.

Win-win for U Fight Cheap. I don't think they want either guy near a title shot and this just keeps them on ice for longer.

The fact they rank Lopes over Evloev - which is fucking hilarious - tells you the UFC is going to try to keep him perpetually in limbo.

So you have no idea and made up a stat 9/10 and then allow your bias against Sterling as a fighter (Not claiming racism) to conclude he was good to go but chose not to because he is a pussy.

The fact that you feel the need to add "(Not claiming racism)"

is fucking insane

Btw, just yesterday or earlier today I talked about how I liked Aljo lol...

Whoever was complaining about grappling fighters and them being boring better not be in here chirping about how they are mad he pulled out.

So True. <lol>

But I still like Aljo -- seems like a nice family man, team player, genuine friend to Merab, and a decorated Thespian Champ.

So, even though I don't fully appreciate the Backpacking -- I do hope he gets well soon and that I can see him climb the rankings in his new Division.

Maybe Ortega will be more willing to accept that fight now that he's off a loss. Put Movsar against Lopes for next if Volk is still sitting. And Allen-Rodriguez?
