The Thing over Aliens, but Alien over The Thing. All by narrow margins, though.

I like The Thing way more. Never really been a fan of Aliens except for the macho banter from the marines. OG Alien is way better but I still wouldn't put it above The Thing

I think best part of alien was when the robot guy turned heel and was trying to kill everyone. Best part of the thing was when kurt russell was interrogating his team to see who was the thing. Other than that, I don't remember much from either of those compared to aliens

I enjoy The Thing plenty. In fact I need to pull it out again and watch it. But I'm gonna pick Aliens. The first time I ever saw it it blew me away almost like nothing else.

The Thing in a fight would DESTROY the Alien

Also think the Thing is more entertaining and scairier on the basis of its true form not being known. You cant even touch it!

Both classics but something about the Thing is so insanely rewatchable to me. Wilford Brimley freaking out and yelling I'll kill you is one of the best things on film ever

Aliens just barely.
As it should be. I love em both and i chose Aliens, but i sat and wondered why.

Thing is the best Carpenter film IMO. Its incredibly creative, psychologically terrifying, and theres nowhere to go. The claymation at the end does look awful now, but other than that, there are fucking zero flaws.

Someone else said they preferred aliens pacing over the thing. Huh? Someone dies almost immediately in Thing and you see the creature a lot sooner than in Aliens.

The pace is about equal once both creatures arrive. However Thing has more scenes, whereas Aliens scenes are EPIC. The hive, face hugger scheme, the operations stand off, the vents, return to the hive, and the last battle. Shit, you can add in the turrents and 1st face hugger scene if you watch the extended version.

Funny how this topic came up because i JUST BOUGHT Jaws and Aliens on Blue Ray. Theyre tied as my all time favorites, so why not get them on Blu Ray? (Could only get aliens on blu ray from England though?) Anyway, i thought, why not get the Thing on Blu Ray and BAM, this poll arrived.
