Multiplat Alien: Isolation sequel announced

Yeah, one thing about it is what now? I mean, where exactly do you take it to raise the stakes? Another lone Alien would still be awesome but would it be more of the same? Obviously an Aliens type of sequel probably isnt gonna be what they go for. Maybe just multiple Aliens to hide from? Multiple Alien types? Who knows. But the point is that whatever they do its gonnna be frigging phenomenal. All the behind the scenes stuff of Creative Assemblys development of the game has always been really fascinating due to the sheer amount of "Alien" material they were given from Fox studios. Calling their game authenticate to the source material is a serious understatemnt

Alien with half an S on the end. Something between the Alien and Aliens films, but more of the Alien aesthetic, the lo fi tech and sound effects. I agree with you that worked fantastically in the first game.
Survival horror, with sequences of action horror. Amanda could be rescued by a team of colonial marines, who are promptly massacred. Maybe you get your hands on a plasma rifle for 5 minutes before it runs out of ammo.

If you (Ripley) kill something like 10 xenomorphs spread throughout the whole game, that's enough of a difference from the first game, where you really had one objective in the whole game, hide from and sneak past the xenomorph. If she uses the environments to kill xenomorphs, rather than sneaking past them all the time. Also I'd hope the Alien's AI could be improved upon, it was pretty good at the time in the first game, but if they make the levels more complex, the alien should be able to set organic traps for you, or ways of telling if you've been to a certain area, or if it figures out what you're up to it can predict where you're heading. You get the idea!
I'm so glad Creative Assembly (CA) is doing it. I don't know who is at the helm of the franchise these days, but they've done an incredible job for the most part taking care of the lore the past 10/15 years. Every book I've read was a banger, even the Covenant prequel.

If Alien Isolation wasn't officially canon before, it sure is now as it's referenced in Romulus, so I'm sure CA has been in talks with whoever is at the helm. Romulus takes place 3 years after Isolation, so there's plenty to build on.

@Concrete Love the "half on S on the end". I can see them calling the sequel Aliens Isolation. They can recreate the magic the sequel movie brought and step things up with the Colonial Marines entering the fray playing a small role. Ripley in the film didn't do her badass action stuff until later and it was in small doses, which fits perfectly with Amanda. I'd love to be able to kill at least a few of those bastards, maybe drop some turrets.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I saw the announcement, as it's been all over my YT feed too. I download the game again, but added a couple of visual mods, while choosing a higher difficulty.

This is the improved graphics mod. Coupled with auto HDR for win 11, it's never looked better!

There's a mod that upscales the FMV's. You can choose 4k, but I just went with the 2k option so I wouldn't have to too long to download it (2K is 5 gigs, took a half hour on Nexus), still a big improvement.

Damn had no idea Alien Isolation comes up in Romulus. Makes me want to play it more.

Excited to see the news of this, they also have some feedback to work with since it's been a while. Between this and The Thing, happy to see some horror suspense gaming return.

Had it downloaded but they took it off the PS games for September. Probably to get people to actually purchase it knowing the announcement of a second was coming. Looks like I'll have to buy it which is fine.

I've read that for first time players, it's best to start on a mode that isn't the hardest? There's a lot of mechanics involved that can get quite tricky? Outside of an alien hunting you, is this a wildly different game than Prey? I loved that one.

I didn't/couldn't finish the first game and I'm usually the type to finish a game once I start one. I was stuck somewhere, probably past the halfway point. And it's really fcking frustrating trying to go back and forth trying to figure out where to go and keep getting killed by the invincible Alien. And yes, I get that it's part of the mechanic, it's a clever way to organically make the player fear the Alien aura, but it gets super tedious if you feel like you're stuck in a labyrinth not knowing where to go.

Let me know how it runs. I want to buy it but the last time I purchased a 30 FPS games on PS I regretted it. I'm hoping they do some sort of remaster\upgrade for this one before the release of the sequel.

Prey is an immersive sim, this is not, even though I keep seeing it described as one. If anything the Xenomorph is the one playing the immersive sim lol, as someone else had described it.

What makes it really cool is the AI, and how it makes you feel like it's learning.

There's a sequence (medical ward) which made me quit the first time I played it, as I thought the xeno bastard was cheap, like it could see me through walls.

It does focus on you largely, but it has limitations,,degress of aggression and all kinds of parameters to hint you. When you learn its behaviors, it's so much more fun to try and fuck with it.

There's a really great video explaining the AI behind it

I remember getting stuck once or twice in the same way. It was frustrating. Dont remember if I just used the scanner to find the path or what, but I got out of it. I might have looked online once or twice too, I admit.

Ah nice, guess I wasn't the only one. I expected more of a 'git good nub' roast from people.

I have it loaded up. will be my next game to play after spending the last few months playing TW3 and CP2077

Now that I think about it, was it on the level with all the human looters? The "mall" level with all the stores?

Alien Isolation is one of my favorite games of all time, if not my outright favorite! I have been dreaming of a sequel FOR YEARS! It's about damn time!

I just played the first one again for like the tenth time a month ago. Was still great. (I try to replay it at least once a year)

I played it for the first time a few weeks ago, it had been in my backlog for years. Was really good. Honestly was more creeped out by the androids than by the alien. There was a lot of brilliant environmental design, they did a great job with the Sevastopol

I started and quit this game earlier this year. It was the section where the android comes out of the pod the first time and the xeno was constantly on your ass the whole time.

Mechanically, I think I just wanted to play something where I could push the stick all the way in one direction without it causing me to die. I was also coming off completing Fallout 3, so moving to Alien Isolation felt extremely handicapping.

I came back to it a few weeks ago, got through that section and thoroughly enjoyed the remainder of the game. 8/10.

"Running causes accidents"

In some alternate universe, there's an amazing Terminator game with the same developers
