Major Spoilers for Katherine Waterston's Character in ALIEN: COVENANT

Up until today, all we knew about Katherine Waterston's role in Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel, which is titled Alien: Covenant, is that she playing a character named 'Daniels' and is a crew member on Covenant, a colony ship.

Last month, 20th Century Fox released an official image of Waterston as Daniels, showing her with short, dark hair and wearing a comfortable, gray tank top. It reminded fans of Ellen Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) appearance from the original 1979 film, Alien. Well, there's a good reason for that.

"Waterston will be playing Ellen Ripley’s mother in Alien: Covenant, which is an amazing twist and true to Scott’s promise that the post-Prometheus prequels will eventually lead right up to the first Alien movie," sources close to film and actress told The Playlist. "But it should be noted that Waterston isn’t the lead of the movie, and it’s an ensemble piece like Prometheus."

[Update: The Playlist has since removed the spoiler from the article at the request of 20th Century Fox.]

Noomi Rapace Joins Ridley Scott's ALIEN: COVENANT

Even though Noomi Rapace emerged from Prometheus as one of the few survivors and the one who seemed most to want to follow the adventure forward with Michael Fassbender’s character, it was long reported she would not be back to reprise her role as Elizabeth Shaw in Ridley Scott’s next installment Alien: Covenant. Maybe that has changed.

Deadline's sources say Rapace is in Australia and on the set to shoot weeks worth of scenes in Scott’s film, which brings back Fassbender’s robot character and has a cast that includes Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride and Demian Bichir. Info is on lockdown, so we’ll have to wait for the film to be released August 4, 2017, by Fox to see how it all worked out.

I hate the first movie more every time I watch it.

If there's a major reduction in supposedly intelligent people acting like complete imbeciles, I'll be on board.

That movie was so shitty. It was like Sci Fi channel bad.

Well. Given the whole missions point was the old men's plan, it would stand to reason they got a bunch of idiots to go along rather then best of the best. The idiots are there only to hide the true reason for the mission, they are also treated as rather expendable and are just pieced together they are not a crew that's been together for some time like in Alien or Aliens.

Danny McBride Reveals He Plays the Ship's Pilot in ALIEN: COVENANT

Production is already underway for Ridley Scott’s upcoming Alien: Covenant and one of the most curious additions to the cast is none other than Eastbound & Down star Danny McBride. Speaking with Rolling Stone, he revealed a little more about his role.

“I’m the pilot of the spaceship Covenant, which is a colonization ship, searching for a planet where we might start life anew.”

Fans will also be pleased to know that, as McBride reveals, there will be plenty of practical effects on the new film.

“Most of the stuff is practical effects: when you’re running from an alien it’s really a dude in an alien suit coming after you! The sets are incredible and you’re in them: We go through some inclement weather at one point on the spaceship and this whole gigantic set is on a gimbal, shaking up and down. You don’t have to use your imagination.”

ALIEN: COVENANT Set Video Shows Off Practical Effects

Noomi Rapace needed to come back. We needed to see her find the engineers and where they came from. We have had enough stupid fkn xenomorphs. Who the hell cares to see a tenth movie with those same stupid monsters? If you raised your hand, you are stupid. We needed new Sci-Fi.. Not another alien movie. This is looking bad.

I know it's shit but for some inexplicable reason I still like it.

don't judge me.

I'm glad they changed the name, Paradise Lost was fucking awful.

Same. I was really disappointed in this movie, but I love it.

So it's a ship finding aliens? LMFAO..
