Demian Bichir Joins the Cast of Ridley Scott's ALIEN: COVENANT

Demian-Bichir-Alien-Covenant-Dragonlord.jpg

Demián Bichir is joining Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant cast, according to THR. The Hateful Eight actor is joining newcomers Katherine Waterston and Danny McBride. Michael Fassbender will reprise his role as Prometheus‘ android, David, while Waterston is set to play a woman named Daniels.

Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Jack Paglen (Transcendence) and Michael Green (Green Lantern) are providing the Alien: Covenant screenplay. The project is entering production in Australia with 20th Century Fox set to distribute the film in theaters on October 6, 2017.

Billy Crudup in Talks to Join Ridley Scott's ALIEN: COVENANT

Billy-Crudup-Alien-Covenant-Dragonlord_1.jpg

The cast of Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant continues to grow, with Deadline reporting on Thursday afternoon that veteran actor Billy Crudup is in “advance negotiations” for a key part in the prequel/sequel. No further details on the role are yet available, as much of the film remains a closely guarded secret.

Crudup recently appeared in 2015’s critically acclaimed Spotlight, and is known for his roles in Almost Famous, Big Fish, Public Enemies and for playing Dr. Manhattan in 2009’s Watchmen adaptation. If the casting becomes official, he’ll be a newcomer to the Alien franchise, which started with 1979’s original, also directed by Ridley Scott.

Alien: Covenant is the sequel to 2012’s Prometheus, and is planned as the second film in a trilogy of prequels, set before the original Alien movies. It’s said to take place 10 years after Prometheus, with Michael Fassbender on board to reprise his role as David, with a cast also including Katherine Waterston, Demian Bichir, Danny McBride, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo and Callie Hernandez. Alien: Covenant has a current release date of Oct. 6, 2017.

I really resent Ridley Scott for making some really, really good films and then like a bunch of shit ones in between those where he seems to mail shit in. It's the reason why I refuse to watch the Martian despite being told it's great and why I think he can go fuck himself with this Alien movie after all the crap he pulled with Prometheus.

Noomi Rapace better return. Cast looks good so far, Bill Crudup is a strong addition. I'm certain Ridley Scott will direct another classic sci-fi like he did with Aliens, Blade Runner and Prometheus.

Martian wasn't that great.

What is the plot of this movie? They stumble upon some eggs, they hatch, all hell breaks loose.

They needed, really needed to continue the Prometheus storyline.

This film will most likely fail without Noomi's presence.
