I have a pet peeve with sound effects and stuff. When a sequel film doesnt use them or get them right, I consider it not getting the "look/feel" right. Look/feel is a huge thing for me in films.

Damn Waterson getting work! That's great. She deserves it. She was fantastic in Queen of Earth

I don't understand how anybody thinks the first movie was in any way good. From the plot holes, to the horrible writing, to the shitty characters.....

I'm curious why anybody thought it was any good. Please explain.

Some people like bad movies. Hell, I like a lot of movies that I know are bad. What bothers me is people claiming there aren't any issues, or that those of us that hate it...had "high expectations." Yeah, I did have high expectations. Ridley Scott with that crew should be impossible to fuck up, yet they did it.

It's a shit movie, and I wish people would just say "yeah, it was pretty bad...but still enjoyable!"

Any word on Naomi Rapace returning? Or is Scott gonna "Alien 3" her?

Any word on Naomi Rapace returning?

I hope not. Partly because I don't think she made a very good job, but mostly because she's a Swedish actress (I'm Swedish). It ruined whatever experience I might have had from Prometheus when you could tell the main character spoke with a swedish accent. It might not make a difference to you guys, but for me it just made the whole movie feel like an english class school play.

Sequel's dont work if they have all brand new characters

Can anyone name a sequel that did that but ended up doing really well cause I cant

I can imagine scott being like

"Naomi Rapace died off camera but here are some new cool guys AND OH LOOK ALIENS AHHHH"

I honestly didn't even notice. I remember she had a bit of an accent, but it's not something that really bothered me. Probably because all sorts of different accents in the US are common.

Wow, so he went from being completely ashamed of the Xenomorph and wanting nothing to do with it to wanting to include the whole cycle fully.

I think we can thank Blomkamp for that.

I really have no desire to see anything by Scott, and am basically just holding out until Alien 5 gets here, but since I have to put up with whatever crap Scott comes up with, I might as well throw out there I hope he tries to capture the look/feel of the original film the same as Isolation did.

I see, you havent seen The Martian, which he will likely get nominated for an Oscar for?

Aliens was pretty much completely new. And that was an amazing movie.

Not yet. My anger towards him comes mainly from #1: Prometheus being so disappointing, #2: Him basically fucking Blomkamp out of Alien 5 (a pitch I was very much looking forward to), #3: the way his ideas have changed for the Alien franchise, first being embarressed by the Xeno and not wanting to use it at all, and now suddenly being ok with it, and #4: His Blade Runner 2 idea sounded pretty bad.

But really, I guess it all boils down to #2. If he hadn't screwed over Blomkamp, at least in the short term, I wouldn't be so pissed at him. Blomkamp's pitch was literally the Alien film I had been dreaming of. For him to come in and strong arm Blomkamp out of it, at least causing a delay (probably 2 years) that's really got me upset.

ALIEN: COVENANT Will Be Set 10 Years After the Events of PROMETHEUS

While promoting the Blu-ray/DVD release of The Martian, costume designer Janty Yates shared a piece of information pertaining to her next collaboration with director Ridley Scott. She told Collider that Alien: Covenant is set "10 years in the future beyond Prometheus."

The flash-forward will probably go a long way to explaining why Noomi Rapace’s Dr. Elizabeth Shaw is being relegated to just a brief appearance in the sequel. Last time we saw her, she and a body-less David (Michael Fassbender) were flying away in an alien spacecraft headed to the Engineer's homeworld.

Prometheus was set in the year 2093, 28 years before the events that took place in the original 1979 film that starred Sigourney Weaver. Now that the sequel will shorten that gap to 18 years.

Alien: Covenant synopsis: Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

But the main character was still there.

I dont know why Noomi Rapace is not returning. They cannot do this without her. Maybe you guys called her Rapeface too much.

True. I'm not sure how Ripley slipped my mind.

Maybe I was comparing Ripley to David. 1 remaining character and the rest is new? I'm not even sure anymore, since it's been a while since that post. :P

Based on the synopsis that Dragonlord just gave I imagine that the plot will be as follows.

The colony ships arrives at what is the Engineers homeworld without realizing it.

After a bit of time passes and maybe a few deaths, the colonists discover David. David is his normal deceptive self and only gives a few clues to what has occurred while serving his own self interest.

We see a flashback scene or maybe a video recording from Dr. Shaw leaving more questions then answers.

A bunch of people die and a ship with the last 1-3 survivors escapes with a xenomorph on board.

The end... Sorry if i ruined Ridley's next movie.

Double post cause I'm double fisting...

Holla and delete.

so the one promising thing about Prometheus was her going to the engineer homeworld.... and now we might NOT be getting that at all?

lol ok
