Ridley Scott Aiming for a Hard R-rating for ALIEN: COVENANT

"I think I'm going to do a pretty hard R," director Ridley Scott said of the Prometheus sequel, Alien: Covenant, after The Martian won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy on Sunday night.

Scott and his crew are currently prepping Alien: Covenant at Fox Studios Australia (Sydney) and he plans to begin filming it in two months. While every film in the Alien franchise except for one (Paul W.S. Anderson’s Alien vs. Predator) have been Rated R, Scott plans to ratchet up the scares for the next one. And he thinks he can go even further than the chestbursting scene from the original 1979 film, which is still considered to be one of the scariest movie moments of all time.

"I always remember walking down the edge in Saint Louis when we were previewing [Alien]," Scott told reporters during the Golden Globes backstage interview. "I couldn’t sit through the film one more time. I walked down the edge into the kitchen scene when John Hurt started to bring up his breakfast. That moment, I realized how pretty scary the film was… I felt a sense of responsibility that I had gone too far because it was extreme. I’m going to try and do that again this year, but much worse."

I watched Prometheus a little while back because I just wanted to see some cool sci fi visuals. Which it delivered. Too bad I just couldn't believe the young hippie/hipster couple with the smart aleck husband would be leading an expedition of such magnitude.

I can already feel David leading innocent people to there deaths via face huggers and what not.

"o yeah safety is just ahead... . keep going into that room..... (door locks them in) Face Huggers all ready to fuck and shit.

I'd like to know how Ridley is going to tackle the look of the film. Prometheus looked nothing like Alien. This next film isn't supposed to be all that far behind the original film in the timeline. Wasn't it like 25 years or something? No reason not to go the Alien Isolation route and make something that looks super close to the original film.

I bet it doesn't happen.

Good Question . I don't think it happens either.

Ridley Scott is so cool he seriously gives zero fucks.

Ridley Scott Confirms Noomi Rapace Won't Return for ALIEN: COVENANT

Prometheus-Shaw-0327-Dragonlord.jpg

Back in November, Ridley Scott met with members of the Australian press to talk about Alien: Covenant which he would be shooting in the country. He teased that Michael Fassbender would have dual roles in the film, and said that Noomi Rapace would be back as well, albeit in a "minor role." However, as the picture gears up to start shooting this year, it seems there's no more room for the actress.

Chatting with Baz Bamigboye, when asked if Rapace would be returning, Scott confirmed she wouldn't be, adding, "We’re still casting the main roles."

It's probably a fair bet that the story for Alien: Covenant just has place for no place for Elizabeth Shaw, and likely picks up many years after the events of Prometheus. Focusing as it does on the crew of a new colony ship, Covenant, who stumble across David (Fassbender).

Katherine Waterston is the only other confirmed cast member for Alien: Covenant, though as Scott says, there's much more news to come. Alien: Covenant opens on October 6, 2017.

Danny McBride Joins Ridley Scott's ALIEN: COVENANT

Following a hilarious run as Kenny Powers on HBO’s Eastbound & Down, Danny McBride is preparing to move from comedy to sci-fi, as he’s in early discussions to co-star in Ridley Scott‘s big-budget blockbuster Alien: Covenant, TheWrap has learned.

Michael Fassbender is reprising his role from Prometheus, and he’ll be joined by Katherine Waterston as the series’ new female lead.

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

While Prometheus grossed more than $400 million worldwide, Alien: Covenant is expected to launch a new “Alien” trilogy that will link Prometheus with Scott’s original Alien movie.

The film is a major coup for McBride, as not only will it allow him to show off more of his range as a performer, but he’ll also have a chance to work with Scott. Like the director, McBride is a true cinephile, and the duo are said to have hit it off while discussing old movies.

McBride is bringing his new HBO series Vice Principals to SXSW, and his distinctive voice will be heard in two of Sony’s animated movies — Angry Birds and Sausage Party. He also has the indies Don Verdean and The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter on the horizon.

Yep, it's a R-rated animated comedy.

SAUSAGE PARTY

Stars Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Kristen Wiig, Edward Norton, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, Nick Kroll, Paul Rudd, Salma Hayek, Bill Hader, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson

How about fuck no?

This is seriously gonna be fucking terrible.

Danny mcbride. Lol the tone of this movie has completely changed on me.

Everyone including the aliens are serious while he's going off aka kenny powers

He'll be a comic relief side character, the wise-cracking botany expert or some shit like that.

I have little faith in Ridley on this one. Noomi was probably the best thing about Prometheus, which I found to be pretty mediocre for the most part.

Lol I bet during filming for The Martian Ridley kept telling himself this movie needed more Danny McBride.
