Alien (1979) vs Aliens (1986)

They're equal to me but very different. Alien is a creepy, slow burn film with a lot of mystery. Aliens is an action packed rollercoaster that never lets up. Alien is probably the "better" film as far as a critic would see it, but I prefer Aliens and that's the film I always choose to watch. I never get tired of it and it's endlessly quotable, it set the standard for sci-fi action films that has rarely been met.

Alien obviously. Aliens is just sci-fi action with a dash of horror but it is still a good movie nonetheless because the introduction of Xenomorph Queen.

Fuck it. Watch em both....

They are both god tier.

Ridley Scott firing on all cylinders vs James Camerson firing on all cylinders. I can't choose tbh.

I think aliens is more fun, I don’t know about better. More action, faster pace. Alien crawls at times, but it is classic horror and set a high standard.

Well, one had Bill Paxton and the other a man in a rubber alien suit.

Aliens

One reason I enjoyed it over the original was the film explored more of the Zenomorph. How it formed the walls, we the audience got to see more of the body of the Alien, how it moved. Also the cast of Marines, the banter back and forth. Hilarious

Aliens. As @CutStryker said, we get to learn more about the Xenomorph's habits, their mindset, and how they truly adapt to their enemies. Alien gave us all the mystery and it's still classic, just not on the top for me.

Aliens is more of a rewatchable movie with the action and humor

But I like Alien more for the horror vibe and the cheesy 70s representation of the future

Not even close...Aliens by a country mile. I also enjoyed the first one which shows how highly I think of the sequel.

Different genres. They are both 10/10 movies in their respective genres.
