It kind of snuck up on me because I wasn't inclined to think of Alex this way, but there have been several things he's done since the loss to Ankalaev that seem sooooo familiar (and which run completely counter to the serious, laconic murderer he seemed to be prior to the loss). He's turned into a pastiche of other fighter's silly moments.
Off the top of my head, doing the Jon Jones "I was hacked" shtick after he tweeted his unhappiness about the UFC.
Then there was that dumb "the person who beat my ass ran away from me, I swear" thing last week, which countless fighters have done before.
And now he's channeling Johnny Hendricks through Tito's math:
"Honestly, I was about 40 percent for that fight, on that night," Pereira said through a translator on"The Brian Campbell Experience" (transcription via MMAjunkie.com). "And obviously it's going to be much more this time. But if I'm only 50 percent, that 10 percent is going to make such a great difference. I'm going to leave no doubt for everybody.”
We're probably going to find out he damaged his neck in that Nina Drama dancing video.
