Lost a decision based on a bullshit point deduction apparently, I haven't seen it.

I don't think that will impact the UFC deal at all with it being a different sport.
Wasn't really a bullshit deduction as he got warned multiple times beforehand. Besides that he would have lost that decision anyway as Vakhitov did a lot more during the fight.

This is coming from a huge Pereira fan btw and I really hope he'll get far in the UFC

I've seen those fights. I wanted to know the results of his fight earlier.

It was extremely close. Pereira lost via majority decision which is not fair to label "controversial", but there was some unnecessary drama due to poor officiating.

Pereira in my opinion won the first two rounds of the fight pretty clearly.

Rounds 3 was a competitive round but Vakhitov ended with the momentum so it was easy to score the round for him which I did.

Round 4 was another competitive round but ultimately Pereira from my vantage point clearly did enough to win the round. However, Pereira was penalized a point by the referee for holding which was not only unnecessary but very telling of the referees intentions. I can understand awarding the round to Vakhitov though.

Round 5 Vakhitov took over and decisively won the round. Pereira was mounting offense but Vakhitov definitely had Pereiras number by then and was coming back at him every time with better shots.

I scored it 48-47 for Pereira, though with the extremely unnecessary point deduction it would have been a tie (47-47).

Three of the judges scored the fight in Vakhitovs favor, one judge awarded Vakhitov four rounds, while two judges awarded Vakhitov three rounds.

One judge scored the fight in Pereiras favor awarding him four rounds.

One judge scored the fight a draw, awarding Pereira three rounds and Vakhitov two rounds, though had the point not been penalized in the fourth round this scorecard would have been scored in Pereiras favor.

I was expecting the officiating and judging to be irregular due to the fact it had been made public prior to the fight Pereira was leaving GLORY. Regardless, both guys fought a good fight, and Vakhitov was able to reclaim his LHW title.

Excellent breakdown mate, much appreciated.

Seems like a close fight that could have gone either way. Do you think this will fuck up his UFC debut though?

Unless Pereira sustained an injury that hasn't become public knowledge then I cant see how the result of his fight yesterday would change anything.

Pereira vacated his MW title in May and during yesterdays card a relatively young fighter who never fought Pereira won it. That fighter is very talented but has not been having a lot of success putting opponents in GLORY away, and I imagine Pereira would have run through the kid had he been defending the MW title.

He did lose the LHW title he won in January, in a rematch with the LHW champion he won it against, but that was not unexpected it was always going to be a close fight. I am sure GLORY did not want Pereira leaving the promotion as the outgoing LHW champion so they must have been happy with the result, but from the UFCs vantage point they likely did not care either way.

The UFC likely signed Pereira in large part due to his power, rather than his accomplishments in kickboxing or rivalry with Izzy, he has flashed serious power against the elite of the elite; if he is able to climb the UFC rankings ladder quickly it will be due to quick knockouts rather than a more technical approach like Izzy or Ciryl Gane.
