Aleksandre Topuria is a problem at BW

Glad things are going well for him. I made a thread about him a while ago, he s really promising.

almakhan is legit competition, alex is for real
Yeah, it was a competitive fight and Almakhan had lots of success but the difference in power was huge and it ultimately decided the outcome.

I was very, very impressed how Almakhan came back from that knockdown and won the last exchange of the fight. True warrior.

Got a ways to go but hes got potential. Needs higher output but can tell hes talented. He won't be ready for a year or 2 . Should take it slow n build.

alex is a bit gun shy, always waiting for the knock out shot

those things dont always come, so he needs to become more proactive

like his brother

he seems to have a great chin. he got hit with solid shots and laughed. He's got a way to go. I see a lot of room for improvement

Looks way too hittable and has terrible technique in the way he leans back with his chin way up in there as a way to avoid strikes.

I can see this guy getting a push sooner than he should due to his surname, but he looked pretty good this weekend against someone I thought would be too much for him.

He is real good and pretty broad built for his weight class.
Had a 6 year break after his only loss back then.
So his skills are less polished than Ilia's, which is normal and expected.

Very solid defense, blocks more in the philly shell and dodges less than Ilia.
- Would love more counters from bobbing and weaving.
Footwork, combinations are less good as well. Relies too much on his great right hand.
His leg kick defense even was terrible in his last fight.
He didn't calf kick in his last fight, which was weird. Ilia has a great one.
- Maybe he had some slight foot/leg injury? He was falling down from every other leg kick.

He needs to capitalize more when his opponent has his back to the cage.
And in clinch breaks he needs combinations and ellbows.
He often breaks clean without doing anything. Probably a habbit from boxing, which he relies on too much.

Much better showing than last time out, but he had to step it up for an opponent of this caliber. Looking forward to his next fight.

both good assessments. his style is similar to his brother but his brother seems either have more confidence or less caution. Alexandre seemed to have his opponent cornered for good portions of the fight, cuts off the cage and applys pressure well, Like illa, but when it comes to captializing on those great positions he's a bit slower to pull the trigger.
