KZ was always injured and showed he was more impressive in his first 3 bouts in the UFC compared to Conor's. Although Conor is on another level,, KZ always had the potential to be where Conor is today. They both evolved pretty quickly, but KZ showed more of his evolution in the beginning...

It's sad that KZ didn't get to showcase more of his skillsets and evolution before he fought Aldo where he dislocated his shoulder. If he wasn't frequiently injured and they built him up just a bit more slowly, I really believe KZ could've evolved exponentially with having just having 2 more fights...

Conor is better today imo, but the only guy to give him the best stand up spectacle would be against the KZ. That would be a bonafide epic in my book...

KZ will come back and soar even higher. His time off will allow him to critically evalute other fighters including himself and with having a high fight IQ, KZ will continue to evolve and become the next guy to bring it up to another level...
