Aldo: most avoided fighter in the history of the UFC?

We all know why Conor fans want to defend the matchup.

Why would he fight for the interim belt against a guy who lost to the current champ..... instead of fighting the actual champ?

Why would that be better for his career?

Obviously Conor fans want to put up every hurdle humanly possible between Conor and Khabib.

I agree about the Conor fans, however Khabib isn't the most deserving contender at the moment so he needs another win before he gets a title shot. The UFC handed this to him with the Aldo interim title fight but he would rather wait for Tony as it's the more winnable fight. His goal is Conor and the title which he knows he is one fight away. The UFC may make a Aldo / Tony / Nate fight for the interim belt or if Conor decides to come back early they could schedule him against Tony / Nate where as if he was interim champ he would have guaranteed to be next in line.
