Singularity is theoretical. I used to think it was an inevitability but I was drinking the koolaid. LLM progress seems to have slowed down and the gap between OpenAI and others has dissapeared. Keep in mind how much financial incentive there is to convince investors (and consumers) that AI is going to have a cataclysmic effect on our species. Its already changed society for sure but the more grandiose ideas I don't fully buy into
