you know what you need to do?

"I suck at BJJ"

"I suck really bad"

"I suck suck suck"

"I can't box either so my threats of knocking you out are rediculous"

You're talking to people who have been in the game, who will tap you like a keg at a frat party

many of us, myself included, train regularly, for MMA, and are higher belts than you, and still dont brag about how 'good' we are.

Stop being a dick and start training like you have some intention of getting better.

I honestly dont see you improvng with your attitude.

on a personal note I traingle wrestlers better than you on a daily basis so I'm not impressed with that shit either.

Grow up.

hahahahahahaha. sorry fedor, but im going to have to agree with this guy. hopefully you can pull a 180 and make some serious changes.

Ok enough with the gay jokes. I really enjoyed this thread because it was a lively debate. civilized and ordered. Now I'm not going to start naming people. I'm sure you know who you are. But. Stop being an jackass! Youre not making him learn by saying that he sucks he has already try to start agreeing with you! But now some real fuck ups who just joined the thread just jump the hell straight to the end of the thread without reading all the posts! God damn wrestlers are supposed to be the assholes. the BJJ guys are supposed to have the honor and integrity brought with tradition. So don't be saying that I'm being hypo, b/c I'm naturally the asshole! Now fuck off with making fun of fedor.

did i really say that i was good at bjj?? can u quote that for me, cuz i would like to see it...yeah i suck at bjj, cuz i just started, and you know what, u probably sucked when u just started too...am i right??...was i really bragging about how good I was??...i am sure you triangle wrestlers better than me as well, because like i said modestly in this thread, i am not a very good wrestler...ok, but seriously, for quoting that thing saying if someone would break my arm i would knock them out with the other, its just a hypothetical...i mean realistically if i were to get my arm broken then i would probably not be able to knock the other person out...what i said there wasnt arrogance or bragging how good i was, i was merely trying to talk shit back to someone that was talking shit to me...just like how u guys wouldnt actually broke my arm if u rolled with me (u can say it over the internet, but u wouldnt be able to look me in the eyes and break my arm)...and your right, i do suck at boxing...but to be honest i dont see myself being a very easy fight for anyone, and thats confidence, not arrogance my friend...thanks for the advice "jitsu man", i think im going to grow up now that u mention it

We hate it when new, arrogant, guys (wrestler or not) step on to the mat and treat it like a competition or an MMA fight.

i wish this was explained to people, because some people might not realize that they are doing anything wrong...because to me, coming from wrestling, if i saw some kid come onto the mat and not know much about wrestling but just put all his effort into sparring with me i would respect the guy...obviously its a bit different in bjj...maybe next time a some new guy does this, maybe you should say "hey, you should calm down a little, just try to work technique"...have u ever given that extremely logical thing to do a shot??????...i really think that a lot of you guys seem to mistake ignorance for arrogance

fedor, man, don't concede anything to the asshole. he doesn't deserve your respect.

Oh yea and Jitsuman.....I bet you won't be so cocky against wrestlers when I lateral your ass halfway across the mat! See how well you get that triangle in then! Fucker pretending like youre the shit. You're not!

without technique, going hard will get someone fucking hurt....

i've been hurt by dumbass white belts before, even though i'm twice as good as they are. it's simply because they haul ass jumping around, and sooner or later, they do something stupid and fucking hurt someone...

.

this might be true but isnt bjj supposed to be made for the street...so your telling me if some brazillian in 1985 fought rickson but was "hauling ass, jumping around" they would have ended up hurting rickson and winning the fight?? im pretty sure if u were really as good as you say you are, you would be able to prevent some newb spaz from hurting u...in no way am i saying that im good at bjj, but i know that if u get hurt by some new kid then whats the point of bjj really...cuz he would have just won that fight against a "skilled grappler" if that was on the street, and u got hurt

yeah, some people just get really high and mighty when they speak about bjj, they make up rules about ediquite (sp) and then dont tell new students, and then they get mad when u dont follow them...thats probably the smartest thing i have ever heard

Sorry for detertiorating your thread like this man. We had a nice debate going with these guys. Then some assholes jump the fuck in start waggin their tiny little dicks around like thay got something big. Sorry just pisses me off.

awwww... were sorry.

You two are either the same person, or are sucking eachothers cocks.

I mean really, you're feeding off eachother and it's a tad bit suspicious.

"BJJ guys are making up all these stupid rules, like knee on belly!" "All these BJJ guys are about technique over raw power, idiots!"

Just shut the fuck up and learn the game. People who have been in it know what works, it's got nothing to do with being high and mighty. if someone spazzes out I tap them and explain how I did it. That way they learn from their mistakes. But you two assholes refuse to listen, you want to make asses of yourselves because you wrestled in high-school, good for you.

you're an unskilled spaz, Fedor, and with your "BJJ guys are all acting high and mighty" attitude you'll never be able to learn from better grapplers than yourself, and you will always suck.

But hey, feel free to suck eachother ignorant gonads all day long, it will only make it easier to tap you out.

And I'll once again laugh my ass off at you When Jeff Joslin comes on here and puts you in your place again..

I wonder if this other jerk off will back you up then?

dude...you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. you've been to two (2) bjj lessons, had an online hissy fit because you got put in knee on belly, and you havent been back to that academy since...now you make some retarded thread arguing with us about how to train. fucking brilliant!!!! you know NOTHING about the sport. you know NOTHING about how good bjj players train. please, tell me more about how i get upset when people don't obey my secret bjj ettiquette......

then promptly stfu to maintain the legitimacy of this forum.

p.s. 95% of the posters on this forum could tap you out, and the other 5% just got lost looking for the mma forum.

You see what I mean by being a jackass?!?!? Other guys are trying to debate with rhetoric, youre just doing it with stupidity. Again youre not reading what was said earlier in the thread so actually youre the one that needs get your head out of your ass and read the history.

Cuozo, I don't really know why you think you are telling me anything new. Again youre a little confused on my stance. Read all the posts.

I'd just like to comment on Fedor4Life's comment here:

"if some brazillian in 1985 fought rickson but was "hauling ass, jumping around" they would have ended up hurting rickson and winning the fight?? "

No, Rickson wouldnt of got hurt. But thats the whole point.

Rickson is a bjj master, he's competent enough to deal with someone "hauling ass, jumping around" and he would probably tap them in about 5 seconds.

The thing is when your rolling with people who arent masters like Rickson, or people with considerable ground skills. The chance they could get hurt increases exponentially.

Honestly, my impression after having rolled with you once, is that your NOT a spaz. You werent constantly freaking out. I would have to say your movements didnt seem too controlled though. You relied on your size, which I dont blame you for, I would probably use it too, just look to be more controlled in your movements, I found being more controlled leads to more efficient movements, less energy, and a better game.

haha owned... be careful colinm, hes going to start a hissy fit thread about all of us BJJ guys now. "how to counter everyone telling you your wrong?"

its good o be aggressive, but everyone has a different definition of agressive. being fast, or applying power at the right time is a good thing. Always relying on them to "win" in sparring is not. there are a couple of reasons why i think you should curb your aggresivness when sparring, see if you can see where the line should be drawn between techique and power.

1) you become reliant on power and lose on techique (as has been said 1000 times). I can think of lots of examples of this happening at our gym. people training for months and still relying on their power. One guy everytime we tie up i i duck under his arm and go to take his back. As i do, he usually panics and tries desperatly to grab head and arm. i usually slip a hook in and sit back. he still is cranking head and arm but eventually i slip it off and take the back. Occasioanlly i wont fight for it and he will turn into my gaurd. In anycase his problem isnt that he cant always turn into my gaurd to stop me from taking his back. Its that he is not tieing up properly to stop me from taking his back. Of course he doesnt see this, all he thinks is that he needs to learn how to power through the move properly, even though i have more leverage, and the best he can hope for is to end up in my gaurd

2) I train 4 to 5 times a week. If i went full tilt everyday i would no doubt get injured and have to take weeks or even months off. The idea behind controlled sparring is to be able to train and learn consistently without having to worry about injury. this will raise your game a lot faster than training intermittantly because of injury. I know when i played hockey and football we wouldnt use full body contact in practice.

3) in my opinion people who are 'aggressive' are the same ones who never want to tap. this leads me to link the aggressiveness with a inflated ego. until a person can forget about winning and losing and actually let themselves tap, they will not learn anything. I fnd most people who are out there being aggressive are there to win and cannot let go. This type of ego can lead to injury as well. I cant tell you how often i have had that type of person in an armbar and could have just cranked it for a tap but didn't because i knew it would lead to injury. the important thing is i knew it there

all that being said, strength, speed and explosivness do have there place. Like when upa'ing out of mount or side control (explosivness). Or when circling to take the back from four quarters or sprawling on a shot(speed). Or even when appling a subission, when done in a slow, controlled manner (strength).
