After banning transgenders, Trump says America worships GOD not GOVERNMENT

So it turned out this was an attempt by Trump to steer the conversation away from his lack of leadership to get the #1 campaign promise of all republicans accomplished. The Secretary of Defense isn't even implementing anything based on Trump's tweets. Nothing has changed. No trans are being removed from the military. Now the failure of the entire remainder of the agenda and the schism of the party, that's been accomplished this week, but nothing else.

I personally don't see anything wrong if a prez expresses their beliefs publicly. Making such a blanket statement is stupid though since not everyone is religious. Personally I'm an Atheist and I don't feel the need to tell everyone and having religion constantly smashed in your face in a secular state gets irksome at these precise times.
No, nothing wrong with it, except when expressing any belief in any other than the God of the Evangelicals would get you vilified across the country, and in a country where it's some sort of horrible insult to be a (secret) Muslim that should scare you a little.
Trump can allow the transgenders to still have rights. But the military is not a good place for them to be. That was the right decision.
So telling them what's good for them is a very nice way to fight for them. Tremendous.
If God is all powerful, then he will protect His own word.
Then he may not be all powerful since he hasn't protected it for shit up to now.

Yeah, great in some areas, fucked up in others. Just because we eventually decided slavery was an abomination, this does nothing to tear down their other accomplishments, which were world shattering. The idea that one religion could not persecute another with the backing of the state (in every colonies, religious establishments fucked over each other, Jews, nonbelievers with law), and all beliefs were forced to live within plurality, was kind of a big deal, considering the colonies were fighting against the King, who was ordained by God.

It was the late 40s, to counter Godless communism. Jefferson and Madison would flip their shit seeing that.....

Jefferson himself thought America was Providence. God's Will. These guys also wanted religious imagery on the National Seal. They were into judeo-christianity imagery. Learn before you post.

Franklin chose an allegorical scene from Exodus, described in his notes as "Moses standing on the Shore, and extending his Hand over the Sea, thereby causing the same to overwhelm Pharaoh who is sitting in an open Chariot, a Crown on his Head and a Sword in his Hand. Rays from a Pillar of Fire in the Clouds reaching to Moses, to express that he acts by Command of the Deity." Motto, "Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God." Jefferson suggested a depiction of the Children of Israel in the wilderness, led by a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night for the front of the seal;

Dont you think it was politically advantageous to appeal to the populace in which they sough to free?

Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, Adams were all very clear, this was to be a secular country.

Madison - “Be it enacted by the General Assembly, That no man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burthened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer on account of his religious opinions or belief; but that all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinion in matters of religion, and that the same shall in no wise diminish enlarge, or affect their civil capacities.”

Jefferson -
To messers. Nehemiah Dodge, Ephraim Robbins, & Stephen S. Nelson, a committee of the Danbury Baptist association in the state of Connecticut.

Gentlemen

The affectionate sentiments of esteem and approbation which you are so good as to express towards me, on behalf of the Danbury Baptist association, give me the highest satisfaction. my duties dictate a faithful and zealous pursuit of the interests of my constituents, & in proportion as they are persuaded of my fidelity to those duties, the discharge of them becomes more and more pleasing.

Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.

I reciprocate your kind prayers for the protection & blessing of the common father and creator of man, and tender you for yourselves & your religious association, assurances of my high respect & esteem.

John Adams - "The United States of America have exhibited, perhaps, the first example of governments erected on the simple principles of nature; and if men are now sufficiently enlightened to disabuse themselves of artifice, imposture, hypocrisy, and superstition, they will consider this event as an era in their history. Although the detail of the formation of the American governments is at present little known or regarded either in Europe or in America, it may hereafter become an object of curiosity. It will never be pretended that any persons employed in that service had interviews with the gods, or were in any degree under the influence of Heaven, more than those at work upon ships or houses, or laboring in merchandise or agriculture; it will forever be acknowledged that these governments were contrived merely by the use of reason and the senses. ". . . Thirteen governments [of the original states] thus founded on the natural authority of the people alone, without a pretence of miracle or mystery, and which are destined to spread over the northern part of that whole quarter of the globe, are a great point gained in favor of the rights of mankind." "A Defence of the Constitutions of Government of the United States of America"

They were quite clear in their writings, public statements, and founding documents, and this point is further hammered home by the fact that many of the founding fathers were in facts theists, and christians at that, and still saw the superiority of a pluralistic secular society. In fact, the seperation of church and state was the most important achievement to both Jefferson and Madison.

I didn't even read that because my point still stands. They had no problem with religious imagery or language. Fact. You're acting like Jefferson would roll over in his grave over God We Trust. Nonsense.

In God We Trust is a religion being promoted within the common civil sphere. Their views were clear, despite your lack of care to read them or not.

He is sinking in shit and now is pandering to religious. Do you know guys forget that Trump isn't one smidgen religious? Some of you are getting dooped hard because you think you got a president that will say what you have been wanting to hear for so long. It will work because you want to believe it. And in exchange,he will have your support to the very end. That is how fucking stupid he thinks some of you are. He has nothing but contempt for you.

And notice how @ripskater refers to transgender people as "the" transgenders. A subtle was of dehumanizing a group of human beings.

Every thread, he'll bring some platitude about Jesus, when pressed on the moral implications of his sayings, he never replies, except in terms of faith or "You dont know the bible" even when I quote bible verses verbatim. I dont know why people keep calling him honest when he doesn't even seem to have the conviction to even argue for his beliefs after the pressure of questioning.

If God is all powerful, then he will protect His own word.

If God is "all powerful" then why does evil exist? Is he a sado-masochist?

And before you say he is "testing us" or gives us "free will", being all-powerful means he already knows what's going to happen, before the test, which makes it an exercise in futility - akin to breaking a dog's leg and then punishing him for limping.

He creates people that he "knows" will commit evil, and then he punishes them for it.

It really doesn't make any sense.

He taps out.

He taps out.

It brings back deja vu of being 12 and asking my youth pastor, pastor, parents about inconsistencies in the bible, and them always ending up having to go "Well, that's faith." After fruitlessly trying to prove to me why these myths were literally true.

I think a lot of people, especially confused leftists, forget that a military needs to be strong physically and mentally. A soldiers job is to impose violence so there can be peace. The harsh reality is that a military needs men who are willing to become violent and kill others when necessary. It is not an environment for the weak. The military needs to be a place where men are conditioned to be tough. It is not a politically correct safe space meant to cater to the feelings and fleeting emotions of the weak and entitled.

More people need to see and understand this.

When my brother left the military, I asked him about something I saw on William Boykin. Boykin was talking about the morality of war, etc. Brother laughed, he was like"We're the assassins. Morality? Fuck that."

It won't make any sense until you seek God with a humble heart.

Intellectual cowardice, the argument from authority. The argument from authority was a shit non starter well before the earliest Jewish stories were being told orally.......

Good luck with that!

Why dont you become a Muslim then? Surely if you became a Muslim, you would know the greatness of Allah, right? all you need to do is put your faith in allah and Mohammed his messenger, right? Just have a little faith...........

Amen. This is music to my ears. After 8 years of Obama.

It's about time we had a president say this.
Absolutely this. He's not saying we have to worship God, he's just saying that that's been a cornerstone to American society and values, and ultimately its success.People can worship God, Satan, Government or the blue headed spaghetti monster for all Trump cares.
