Yeah. It's the same everywhere. The places that get flooded tend to be working class areas already eroding and ignored by those in power. They already resent the government for the way they've ignored them for decades and now have this forced upon them to make their lives more miserable. A lot of these places literally only had their local identity to cling to and now even that's being taken as the streets are being flooded with non locals, many of whom are committing crime and making it feel less safe. This is how the far right comes into power - these people feel its their only potential option for change. Look at Reform yesterday in the UK. destroying elections in small, working class forgotten areas. All very predictable.
