AEW AEW CXLIII: All Out Road To & Aftermath

This Blade story is one of them weird circles of stupidity that I'm always on the fence about in AEW. Big Tone doesn't give a shit about guys killing themselves on his shows and seems to like it with as much of it is on his shows. Wrestlers seem to actively do wild shit to get noticed and get booked more. Big Tone is cool and pays for everything when they do get fucked up cause he likes that what they do to entertain his crowds. But will Big Tone be there in 15 years paying these guy's bills when they can't walk? But then these guys are grown ass adults that make the choice knowing what the consequences can be.

Me as a fan enjoys seeing crazy shit. Me as a fan could also live without it and just enjoy a good wrestling match.

Wonder if the wrestlers just say fuck it and do the wild shit knowing the regular bumps are gonna fuck them up anyway, so might as well go all out on the wild shit even if the wild shit might fuck them up sooner. Hulk Hogan destroyed his spine doing leg drops, but then you have 32 year old Will Ospreay already having a spinal fusion from the wild shit.

It's kind of weird loving something as a fan that fucks people up so bad. Guess it's one of those trust the wrestlers to do what they want cause they're adults while I be like:

<{JustBleed}>
This is my thought pretty much every time Darby does something incredibly stupid.

His choice, almost definitely his idea, he is an adult. Just maybe not for long

Just read the full transcript of the interview and The Blade said he's been bumping again and is just waiting to get cleared.

I don't want to pretend like I know what's best for other grown ass adults. But it's like, guy is 45 and just had spinal fusion on both his neck and back. The Blade isn't exactly a guy that is missed in the industry. Go to trade school or something while Tony Khan is paying you a salary, he just paid for Deonna Purrazzo's tuition to go to college and apparently AEW has tuition reimbursement for anybody on the roster. This guy has a golden chance to walk out healthy at 45 and he's like "nah time to bump on my surgically repaired back and neck at 45 years old". <lmao>

This damn industry is like drugs to these guys lol

The Business is the real drug, Beeg, you know that

TK like one of those old Roman emperors that rewards and takes care of the gladiators that entertain him the most.

..but eventually the old guard will be forgotten because of the new upstarts.

It's the Mick Foley syndrome. The man cares more about giving fans a thrill than his own future. But seeing what Mick has gone through medically, I'm surprised that there are still people who chose to follow his lead.

Didn't his wife just come back after a long injury or something too? That family has some screws loose

I could go on a deep philosophical rant about free will but I'll spare everyone a Rex Ted Talk and keep it fairly brief lol.

The way I see it is we are all going to die and we are all going to be in a lot of pain. If someone wants to live their live doing crazy stuff who are we to say no if they aren't hurting anyone else. I think its hard for most people to understand other's perspectives. You see that in all aspects of American life which is why everyone is always at each other's throats or it seems like it is. I respect someone living their life how they want to and I understand it to an extent. We all need to figure out our way in life. I think its healthier for someone like Darby Allin doing what he does as opposed to some person who is mentally ill, obese and doesnt provide anything to the society. To me that is whats really sad about this country.

At the same time, when its time to answer for all those crazy bumps it's time to answer for all those crazy bumps. Don't bitch out at the end.

There was a study recently that asked hundreds of NFL players from the 70's and 80's if they'd do it again. They all had daily debilitating pain and played in an era before big money set them for life. 99.9999% of them would do all of it again.

There's an addiction to being in front of people and feeling like you are "special" for lack of a better word. Even if it's playing for a 4-12 1983 Jets team or wrestling in front of 1500 people.

And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that!

I think there is that aspect to it for sure, but I think there is an archetypal aspect as well. Those NFL guys have strong warrior archetypes to them. If you are ever bored you might be interested in looking into the main archetypes. You will start seeing them in people. Its pretty neat. And then you add our own unique perspectives and minds to say, someone who resonates strongly with the warrior archetype and you could get someone like Darby Allin. Taking those painful bumps might be how he satisfies that part of who he is. For me, it was a being a marine. Then getting into firefighting. But now its being a counselor. And some people may think what the heck does being a counselor have to do with warrior energy. Well, the way I see it is this world is a mess. It's fallen in a lot of ways. Me being a counselor is my own unique way of "fighting" back and doing something about things I dont like. And to a lesser extent lifting heavy weight satisfies it, too. For that im physically fighting against something.

That's entire other can of worms I can open up lol

I'll just say I see a hell of a lot of "feel sorry for me and give me money gofundme's" especially from pro wrestlers and MMA fighters.

Them indie wrestlers that decide it's smart to dive off a ladder onto concrete while getting paid a hotdog and a handshake, break their wrist or something, then hit the gofundme talking about "I won't be able to work for the next 6 months, pay my bills for me" then me thinking about all the times I've went to a 9 to 5 with a cast on. <lmao>

A lot of these people do be bitching out in the end, especially when them retirement coffers are still dry.

That I dont like. Ive seen that too. The thing with Darby Allin, for example, is he is still highly successful so he has money to fall back on and a boss who loves him. Those indy guys might want to find some other ways to scratch that itch lol.

It's the Mick Foley syndrome. The man cares more about giving fans a thrill than his own future. But seeing what Mick has gone through medically, I'm surprised that there are still people who chose to follow his lead.

This post just reminded me of Jon Moxley storyline shortly after he signed with WWE. They had him crash Mick Foley's speaking event in the hotel lobby blaming Mick for why Moxley mutilates and destroys his own body. It was supposed to lead to a worked shoot TV story and match between the two, but apparently Mick was in too bad of shape and WWE's neurologist wouldn't clear him so they just quietly squashed it.

It's kind of funny though that back in 2012 WWE was basically gonna make your post a storyline <lmao>

This page made me think, would you rather have the Miz’s career with all the money he’s made and being pretty much injury free, or Bryan Danielson’s with the way better legacy/career but all the neck injuries that came with it?

I'd rather have Danielson's career.

Respect in the industry would be big for me. I've never been a happy to be here type of person.

Back at one of the post show scrums a couple years ago I remember Tony saying something about Danielson being the guy he would want to run AEW if something were to happen to him. That's a crazy amount of respect in the business.

That ain't bashing The Miz's career either, guy is often praised as the ultimate "good hand" for his reliability, but I think even The Miz himself didn't want that and just kind of settled in to it, I'm sure if he actually had the ability he would've wanted the dope matches and the respect as well, he just didn't have the skill.
