Tony Khan himself has gone on record saying he has people helping him with creative and listed off names several times. Tony Khan just has final say, which is how it should be and the shows are good more often than they're bad. I criticize shitty stories all the time too, but I think they do more good than bad, I'll never pretend to be some genius that acts like Tony Khan should ditch what he's doing because 1 or 2 out of every several episodes is mid lol
Think of every promotion that has existed in the last several decades. Think of how they were booked or "written". There is literally no such thing as an "experienced booker" from a major professional wrestling promotion outside of a handful of people, Jeff Jarrett who already helps with AEW creative and even when he ran TNA he still had guys like Dusty Rhodes, Dutch Mantell, Vince Russo, Scott D'Amore etc, he was never really a "booker", he had an entire writing team, Jim Cornette who was terrible in Smoky Mountain and when he was head booker of a team in ROH it was the worst creative time in ROH history. Vince Russo is around, but the only time he was actually successful he was part of a writing team, not a head booker, when he became a head booker in WCW he helped tank the company. Konnan with AAA, but holy shit AAA is a fucking circus, I don't think you want that. Gedo with New Japan, who had a few good years, but New Japan sucks ass a lot now. Bookers don't really exist much in wrestling now days outside of indy's, Mexico, and Japan and none of those indy's, Mexico, or Japan companies run on the scope of AEW.
AEW is grabbing some of the best guys available already though who have experience in other avenues like producing and writing. Jarrett has obviously ran a promotion. Jimmy Jacobs was on WWE's writing team and was a producer in Impact. Sonjay Dutt was a producer in WWE, Dean Malenko has been a producer for 20 years between WWE and AEW. Pat Buck was a producer in WWE who got critical acclaim for the matches he produced before he asked to resign to join AEW. Jerry Lynn has been a producer for 10 years now between ROH and AEW. All of these guys have been confirmed as part of Tony Khan's creative inner circle. Tony Khan has also mentioned Bryan Danielson basically taking over the Punk role on Collision and when Danielson retires soon he already said "Saturday is Bryan's".
They have a solid squad and they make more good shows than bad, so fuck it until they start making more bad shows than good, let them cook.
