My only comment on this nonsense is to point out that the UFC brass doesn't like Sterling because he complained publicly about money years ago when it wasn't so common for fighters to do so. Dana didn't even want to give him the title shot after he promised it to Aljo for beating Sandhagen. They only announced his fight with Yan after Sandhagen KO'd Moraes.

If it were so "obvious" that he's faking and lying to doctors, the UFC would have no qualms about stripping him of the title. It's not like he's a draw or anybody even wants to see the rematch with Yan.

The only narrative that needs to stop is him camp clinging to the false belief that Ajo is a legit champion. The man needs to fight and all of this will go away.

It was obvious from the day he was gifted the belt that Sterling was trying to hold onto it for as long as possible so he can be “the man“ in his gym and in his hood. It’s pathetic.

So his motivation is to be "the man" when nobody respects the fact that he's champ, including most other fighters?

He doesn't care about getting a champion's payday when he's at the low end of the contender pay spectrum and has previously complained about money?

Do you honestly think that he's dumber than the average member of this forum?

This is a redux of when people were claiming Nicco Montano was faking injuries, and years later, it turns out that injuries have effectively ended her career.

He went to his former high school with the belt as soon as he “won” it. He was mooching for attention.

So what's the true context of that picture, then?

The context of the picture is what it is, sparring partners sparring and trading shots.

I believe the "false narrative" is more of the context of what he wrote, claiming that it was (essentially) Aljo's choice to pull out of the fight. When his sparring partner is trying to dictate that claim is false, clarifying that it was the medical board that wouldn't clear him.

Sterling's situation has really brought the immaturity out of a lot of mma "fans"
Most people recognize that it was Yan's fault but Aljo has taken this opportunity to shine in a spotlight he was gifted. The pull out was the cherry on top as a lot of fans believe he has no intention of defending. I personally believe they will strip him before he defends.

So if the doctors wouldn't clear him to fight because of the neck injury... why are Aljo himself, his coaches and training partners allowing head shots in sparring?

You would think they would all be looking out to avoid exacerbating the problem even further, just saying.

Is Massapequa a hood now?

Sooooooo, is Yanez going to answer the question about why Aljo is hard sparring and eating shots to the chin with a severe neck injury, or just ignore that question and set up strawmen to knock down?
Ask his doctor.

Not sure why it needs to be repeated. You guys are acting like theren are some questions still lingering in the air about this. There aren't, you just can't read

I'm aware, and the fact that it bugs them so much is ridiculous. Champs hold belts without defending all the time-- at the end of the day they'll have to eventually fight or be stripped. Whether he's milking the situation or not, nobody really knows except him and the doctors. For us fans, though, we just have to wait, the same way we had to wait when cruz was unable to defend or when countless other champs held the belt for a longer period of time. We simply need to wait

If you all want to make assumptions and theories and be butthurt in the meantime, it's up to you, but it just seems like a waste of energy because you really don't know the situation unless you're Aljo himself, so it all sounds like conjectures and whining. Either way, you'll be waiting for him to defend or be stripped all the same.

Someone recovering from a serious neck injury does NOT get punched in the face without head gear.

Period.

Anyone defending this clown should fuck right off. He's clearly ducking and needs to be stripped until he's ready to fight for real. That division has already been held up by Cruz, TJ, Cejudo, and now Aljo, and I'm probably forgetting something in there (Garbrandt? Barao?)

Fuck that.

Yanez is specifying that he didn't pull out.

Read that last sentence again.

He was not cleared by doctors to fight, who informed the UFC. If you aren't cleared, you can't fight. It is also common sense to understand this is why an interim is setup as opposed to vacating, which Dana would obviously prefer.

Critical thinking.

Yan made his bed and I feel no fucking sympathy for him. If he didn't like not having a belt he shouldn't have blatantly committed an egregious foul (multiple times)

Now why AJ would risk his career with a neck surgery right now I just dont know lol

"Stop creating a false narrative Francis didn't really win that fight"

I might make fun of him but he's right about out of context stuff

Like the genius posting this after Yoel lost to Izzy to argue he won.

Aljo released a video with his orthopedic surgeon looking at slices of his neck MRI, pointing out the stenosis and explaining the problem and goal with the surgery. He then goes on to have the surgery - so we are not guessing if he had a serious neck injury, you can look at his imaging.

Here is the timeline:

- Aljo has neck injury that worsens after fighting Yan
- Orthopedic surgeon publicly explains diagnosis and surgery to correct
- Aljo undergoes said surgery
- UFC books a rematch with Yan based on earliest possible recovery
- Sterling experiences complications from surgery and isn't cleared to fight

If he was cleared and just simply refused to fight, the UFC would vacate the title. Dana doesn't want to have an interim, the reality is Aljo just fought 7 months ago. That is a fast turnaround for champions who don't even have surgery.

Think about it.
