Abysmal state of UFC heavyweight division

LHW is ass, shallowest ever
MW is a joke, Strickland fighting for the belt
WW welterwaiting as usual
LW just old rank squatters

UFC is dying

This is just on the surface. There's a reason why it took so long for Stipe to make his record and why the division has such a low record. Because all it takes is one punch for all that superiority and favoritism to go down the drain.

Aspinall has a lot of work to do.
 
it's been worse before. when i first started watching it was AA, tim sylvia and... hope some guys eventually come over from pride.

It's a little lack luster compared to previous eras ....but I think that list of guys is still probably the baddest dudes on the planet and I wouldn't want to fight any of them
 
the UFC HW division has always been second tier - i don't mean it as an insult, but even during the pride era, UFC could never compete with the HW calibre and talent that were performing outside the UFC.

I'm wondering if it is a slow divestment out of the HW division - it's slower moving, not as technical, and more lob sided because of the sheer lack of depth. Jones won't have a great run because there are no more contenders - if aspinall wins, it may open up options but nothing exciting. This is wear the "tournament" style always added some excitement and second chances.

Remember when out of shape Rico Rodrigeuz went to Pride and fought Big Nog? Favorable judging gave Big Nog the win but everyone who was watching saw who really won that fight..
 
This thread made me think of the Robelis hype and wonder what happened with him, just saw that he lost his last fight to Austen Lane...

The top 10 is not THAT bad but after that it's just unreal...like sign Greg Hardy back level bad.

Surely there have to be some random Russian and European HWs out there that are better than the majority of HWs on the roster. Is it just a logistical issue?
 
I miss the Pride days when you had Fedor, Crocop, Big Nog, Barnett, Werdum, Overeem, Kharitonov, Schilt, Yvel, Rizzo, Aleks Emelianenko...

But the UFC has a long history of struggling to sign quality heavyweights.
 
Please sign Buchecha. If anything there is some intrigue of how a top bjj player does in the best MMA promotion
