Aaron Pico Should Come to the UFC Now

Not sure if he beats AJ McKee
That guy has the X factor IMO
Him and McKee are friends and training partners so it gives way to one of them taking a UFC deal as soon as their Bellator deal is up

Exactly right.

The stupidest thing is one of the few guys the UFC actually treated with kid gloves and gave a gentle development path to was Greg Hardy. I get that’s he’s got some fame as a former NFL player, but TBH I think Sage got more heat after he did that crazy flip after his first fight.

I suppose the flip side is it’s much easier to find trash opponents for a heavyweight “prospect.” Than someone at WW.

It's a hard line to work but both seem to operate on opposite sides of the coin. Bellator used kids gloves and the UFC wants them to prove their mettle and move up.

It makes sense for both. Bellator needs to cultivate prospects or hold onto any star power because they have less money and the product has less eyes on it. If they lose a name, it hurts more. The UFC has brand recognition, TV/streaming deals and can withstand people losing.

McKee will move up to 155. Then he'll leave.

I'd rather see the UFC's young talent come to Bellator.
On one hand I do not want to see Bellator lose all of it's top stars to UFC and I could go on about why for a thousand words. On the other I would like to see the match ups. I'd like to see them do more trades but that'll never happen.

The thing I don’t like is the lack of consistency with the UFC. If it’s CM Punk, then they’ll bring in a journalist with no pro fights.

I think I have a solution for their inability to develop prospects- get rid of WMMA. That opens up more roster spots for developing fighters to come along a little more appropriately.

I hope you didn't leave anyone out.

That's like half their roster, if you weed out all the cans. If all those people left for the UFC, Bellator would have nothing left but regional bums.

They have like 300 fighters on the roster.

I really like Pico but his chin will be a problem for him at the upper echelon.

His point was that there is plenty of UFC level talent in Bellator.

You want bums, look at about half the dudes that come over from the Contender Series.

I’m sure he’s under some big contract with Bellator but I’d like to see him take the next step up and come to the UFC. He’s got the experience now and still has plenty of room to improve. Could you see him doing well in the UFCs featherweight division?
I don't think its that easy to get out of a bellator contract

He was basically raised by Bellator. Wasn't he essentially their experiment at crafting an elite fighter? They'd probably be hard-pressed to let him go but if he keeps getting KOd by lower league guys then the UFC bunch would retire him.

He seemed pretty level headed and understood his standing after his last win. Thanked his team and family. He's grown as a fighter and a person.
ok then there's hope for him.
Previous fights I mainly just saw over-the-top silly celebrations and a rather entitled attitude.

If he's progressing....good for him.

The UFC won't gradually let him grow. They'll throw him in deeper waters. He's well rounded enough to win some fights there but he's a glass cannon and would falter at some point against better competition. I'm sure he'll make it exciting though.

Totally.

The UFC don't baby their fighters, but I still think he could do pretty well there.

I'd be worried they'd fix him up with someone like Yair Rodriguez in his debut, when someone like Lando Vannata would be more appropriate.

He'd be super fun to matchmake for, just as long as the goal wasn't to prove that a kid coming over from Bellator wasn't legit.

Interesting to see how he stacks up to the UFC welterweights.

Everyone always says Bellator has a better Welterweight division so I expect we will find out.

Although I expect Dana to throw him to the wolves immediately.

Sage didn't fight particularly tough opponents himself, one of his losses was to Mickey Gall whose claim to fame was beating CM Punk.
