Aaron Pico is fighting tomorrow

Good idea to have him on the prelims and against a 7-3 dude.

Hard to say if the damage is done and his chin and mentality are permanently broken due to his brutal losses. I just hope we never again have to see people talking about him being the future because some can goes down to a body shot or whatever.
His mentality seems not too bad. Coker said after the last KO loss he still didn't want bums.
Pico's last fight against Borics was on the prelims.
Really? Weird. F*cking Sergio Pettis is fighting on tomorrow's main card.

Lol only on Sherdog can you find people writing off a 23 year old kid who’s fought nothing but killers straight out the gate. So fucking what if he’s 4-3 at 23? What if he wins 10 in a row now? Pico is insanely talented and he refuses to give up. He’s gonna keep busting his ass until he’s good. There’s no doubt in my mind he’ll be great. You guys will look real stupid in a few years.

Yeah, that's not how it works. And he hasn't fought killers. Tough fighters for someone so inexperienced, true, but not killers. His big impressive knockouts were over cans. His losses weren't to top tier guys. Other prospects and journeymen. You see when you get finished in brutal fashion, it tends to become a habit. Especially at that level.

It doesn't matter how young you are when your chin is busted and you're mentally broke due to bad losses.

That's why you don't rush fighters.

Hes 4-3 and lost to corrales and borrics, two of bellators biggest names in their divisions. You make it sound like hes lost every fight and looks like CM Punk doing it. If he works on his fight IQ he'll be fine. Either you dont follow bellator too closely or your greatly over exaggerating.

I watch Bellator and I'm not exaggerating. He deserves credit for fighting the opponents he has for his inexperience, even if it hasn't been the smartest thing to do. But let's be honest, these are Bellator prospects and journeymen, not top dawgs. And the guys he's beaten are KOTC quality. That's again, perfectly fine for where he is, or should be in his career, but when you get so much hype, you got to accept the criticism too.

Pico wants the big fights and tough challenges too soon. He should train in Thailand if he wants to improve his Muay Thai and work on counters. He has low fight IQ and at times doesn't seem to respect his opponents. This next fight for him is just about right and it'll be interesting how he fares. Hype train will be out of commission if he loses this one.
He doesn't need to go to Thailand, Muay Thai isn't his style. He's got a California Boxing style. He just needs to learn to mind his defense, mix in his kicks and learn to transition from striking to grappling better. He also needs to develop and actual MMA top game, Freestyle wrestling made him great at takedowns but his top game leaves a lot to be desired. He really just needs to stay at a good gym and keep learning. This is a pretty easy fight for Pico, who still has a very high ceiling.

Lol you’re an absolute idiot. Stick to cheerleading or lacrosse buddy. You’re clearly stupid as fuck.

This guy is clearly an absolute idiot. Doesn’t know shit about what he’s talking about lol. Borics and Corrales are legitimate beasts. Who fights guys like them when you’re 4-1 or 4-2? McGregor was fighting bums at that point. Then he called everyone Pico has beaten a “can” lol. Whatever you can’t fix stupid. Clearly this guy is beyond stupid. Nothing worse than babbling on about something you don’t know shit about.

Pico has more exp. than most 40+ year old MMA fighters.

but Conor didnt train since day 1 with the best of the best.

From a semi-pro-soccer player, to an ok boxer ... and hes now one of the best MMA fighters and the first triple weight class champ.

Did you ever see what Eddy Bravo said about Pico on the Rogan podcast? (I think it was during a livestream of one of Pico's fights).

Apparently a young Pico went to 10th planet jiu jitsu, and it kind of sounded like he wasn't very coachable (and that his team were more yes men as opposed to giving him constructive criticism). Eddy said he wanted to have Pico focus on his grappling (given his elite level wrestling), but he seemed like he was committed into turning into a striker. They parted ways on amicable terms, but Bravo didn't sound too surprised when Aaron got starched in his last fight.

I remember seeing that. His last fight was the first time he tried to use his wrestling but he's just not very good at BJJ yet so he can't really do much after he takes people down. Ed Ruth is having that same problem, I thought he lost his last fight and he can't do much after he takes people down either if he even tries. Both of them need to get this idea of being strikers first out of their heads if they want to make the most of their MMA careers.

He is actually a really good fighter, he just went all derp and did a Cody Garbrandt in his losses tbh. The guy does have some serious power and amazing technical striking. If he can perfect it with his wrestling we will see him as a top 3 or 5 easily.

Pico is just a Diamond in the rough and needs to work on keeping calm and work on his fight IQ, especially his emotions.

Agreed. He just got thrown into the deep end way too soon. Look at the way he was brought up compared to the likes of someone by AJ Mckee.

They started off wrong by putting him in the wrong weight class against a seasoned fighter. Then they started to do it right, having him fight often against lesser opposition. Then they moved him up too fast against a guy with a lot of KO power. Then made matters worse by feeding him to an unbeaten monster in Borics.

Aaron has either been listening to the wrong people or not listening to the right ones.

4-3. Hype train derailed. Repeatedly. Don’t care unless he emerges as a contender, which seems unlikely at this point.

Perfect definition of a bust in MMA

and from all accounts hes a gym warriors and bully outside the cage

hope he gets brutally KOd again

not at all. He’s a kid thrown in with experienced fighters right from the start.

shit even lomachenko lost his 2nd or 3rd fight.

poor management. A 20 year old should be given gimme fights his first 10 or so fights.

Thats where he should be, like what UFC after Sage lost a few. Take the pressure off him, dont put him in the spotlight and let him get wins and get better.

There is still a chance this kid isnt ruined.

Well....Jackson will ruin his exciting fighting style and make him more like GSP "safe" blanket...........

Jackson has killed more fight cards than Bellator main events!

I still think Pico wil become an elite guy or at least a notch below elite at some point in his career.

But I also think he could fight at 135lbs. He is not big at all.

I remember the hype behind this guy. Just later he got knocked the fuck out like 3 in a row.
