A weird thing about the Jiri fight

Jiri has intangibles that can't be taught. I'm not even sure he watches tape or understands his opponent's tendencies, so that he can defend. He focuses on himself, what he knows he can do, and uses sheer will to overcome every situation he meets. He fights like a true samurai, prepared for anything and able to adapt.

Idk that we really understand how good is Jiri. It makes you wonder how he'd fare if he trained and prepared like a normal fighter, but maybe if he were going about it that way, he wouldn't be the fighter he is. Special guy, we don't get many like him.

I wish Jiri would have recognized that Kimura that he could have finished Rakic with! Now that would have been the perfect finish with a Japanese submission to put a cherry on top with those Samurai comments. What do you people think?
It would be cool but I like Jiri bodying people better hahah

Yeah he cant be a normal fighter. Hes not a normal person.. What got him this far is his how unusual he is and that in a very violent sport he actually stands out with his level of violence. As a trainer, you have to let the guy be who he is.

You just have to let him cook.

It looks weird, unorthodox and fundamentally abhorrent but it's what makes him different. You cannot "bring in guys" to prepare you for jiri you have to trust your instincts

He is an anomaly.

He has that Apocalyptic Warrior Mistique

Upper Management Black Bags of Peace

I think we can agree he's pretty much the best fighter out now. How could you not want to watch him? how could you not root for him?

I want him to rematch Poatan so bad, please just skip magomed. if they do go with Magomed, let Jiri put hill out of his misery.
Magomed deserves the shot. Poatan wants a quick turnaround so Im ok w him doin that first.

You have no choice with Jiri. He doesn't let you dictate the pace. You either have to knock him out while he tries his style or be tough enough to be in a dog fight with him.

You aren't going to point fight beat Jiri. He isn't ever going to let that happen.

As a lot of others have already stated. Jiri just had more heart and made Rakic crumble. Jiri is definitely one of the most mentally tough dudes at LHW. Only way to get him out of there is to stop him from moving.

Rakic looked like and was the better fighter. Jiri was a step behind and getting pieced up. More technical and calculated. Jiri tried to close that gap with chaos but was not working fully until round 2.

The weird thing is that Rakic was winning, in control and better than Jiri yet in round 2 it looked like Jiri finding his shot and inviting chaos was undeniable.

Tldr: Rakic was the better fighter but destined to lose.
Jiri has killer instincts, not all fighters have it.

He's just one of those guys you are anticipating a finish from.

it doesn't matter how much more technical you are than your opponent, if said opponent doesn't respect your power and can just walk you down like a mad lad
