No Spoilers A really good burger rivals a really good steak

Just had an incredible burger. Incredible. Fresh roll, tomato, lettuce, cheddar cheese, sauteed onions, mayo, mustard, ketchup.

As I was eating it, I thought to myself, 'You know what, a really good burger does indeed rival a really good steak.'

Thus the Sherdog Thread of the Year was born.

Thoughts?

If you’re eating at an average place order a burger over a steak, burgers can be done good at a shit place but steak can very rarely be good there

IDK that's a hard sell for me, I'm not a big burger guy. Steak on the other hand I could eat every day.

The mustard has got to go. As for the ketchup it has to be very very light.
I am talking about 2 or 3 drops just enough to slightly alter the flavor profile.

Sounds like you haven't had a good steak yet. A burger NEEDs condiments, a good steak does not.
This this and this

Stop and Shop currently has a deal on their grass fed beef so I stocked up over the weekend.

Just yesterday I cooked a ribeye on my cast iron griddle, using only salt and pepper as seasoning. Cooked it to medium and it was one of the best steaks I have ever had.

Better than any burger I have had that's for sure

I agree wholeheartedly OP. During covid I took a job at a big grocery chain. I was eating the best cuts of steaks, ground beef, pork, sausage etc... free of charge for a good 7 or 8 months.

It was early April and the bbq/gazebo was still wrapped up so I got into cast iron cooking, and tried a variety of different ways of preparing meats, especially burgers.

I mixing chuck, sirloin, ground beef, brisket etc ...into smash burgers. This was gourmet shit and as great as any Steak I ever ate anywhere. A key component are brioche buns, laced with butter and toasted.

The story behind the free meat was that I had a weird shift and worked in a window when no regular employee did. I stumbled into different department managers stealing steaks and various meats off the truck. Everyone was pissed because the owners dropped the "hero pay" (think that's what they called the increase to attract more workers), despite few business being open and the stores still short on staff. Managers and drivers were doing crazy extra hours so they stuck it to the man through their meats. It was like walking in on some b heist film scene. They offered to cut me in, and I gladly accepted lol
You either have to be in once you’ve seen it or you’ll be cut out if you know what I mean.

Fuck and no. Last night I had a ribeye smothered in broiled blue cheese, not the best one I have ever had but it was at my regular spot and it's my go to order there. There is no burger in the world that is as good as that was last night.

A burger is better than a cheap steak. I would choose a burger over round, chuck, or flank. But the better cuts are not even in the same ballpark. It's like saying chicken nuggets are as good as Fried Chicken.
If you get to your butcher shop early enough you can get prime chuck steaks, there are only 2 of them per side of beef but they are really good for the price. Most people think chuck is bad but they can be pretty good if prepared properly, and cost effective.

i agree with this thread. steak is nice, but burgers are awesome. i just had one of these ones last week, and its probably the best burger ive had in 10 years.

I'm taking you off my Christmas card list.

I think the bun makes or breaks the burger.
