Economy A Look at Chinese future manufacturing

China is starting to have decent manufacturing. Companies like Huawei and Xiaomi have smartphones on par on western brand names, at half the price. About time professional thieves apple and samsung get their comeuppance.

i wouldnt touch those phones with a 10 foot pole...

See that city in the OP's video? Here was that city in the 1980s, population 30,000:

saupload_saupload_shenzhen-then-and-now-04-2017.jpg

Now, population 13 million/ metro 23 million. $25,000 gdp per capita

Are they going to pretend they are some advanced trend setters because they are setting workers worker's rights back 100 years? That doesn't even work well for the rich in the long run.

See my post right above this one.. Shenzhen has gone from a gdp per capita of ~$500 in the early 1980s to $25,000 now. Population 30,000 to 13 million in the city/ 23 million metro.

Good for some of those people.. That "average GDP per capita" can be a tad misleading.. Also, they way it rose was questionable, but it's not like they weren't going to take advantage of others mistakes I suppose; that's not dishonorable.

In Sweden Huawei phones are competing with the 2 giants. Actually, they are a serious threat according to our 3 biggest electronic chains(Elgiganten, MediaMarkt and NetonNet). And I think it is kind of remarkable how they have managed to do so in a country where Samsung and Apple are the kings of advertisment.

Why though?
More people I know have had trouble with iPhones that with Huawei. And they paid more for them.

I know that's anecdotal, but still.

China's rise has been based on the dishonorable actions of traitorous scumbafs from other nations, and the work of 14 year old prostitutes making sure they all want to keep coming back.. And polluting and poisoning the Earth.. Its been a dishonorable rise. Japan >

Their rise is directly related to Chinese backed lobbiests, theft and espionage. They are parasites.

I just watch this guys vids for everything China related.

He's based in Shenzen.

SerpentZA is great although his uploads have been slowing down in recent months. I think the government finally got to him. He did a video with a government guy and had some people following him in a few others and then the uploads slowed down a lot.

Practically everyone living there is an immigrant from other areas. What point are you trying to make?

It's all Chairman Mao's fault! Goddam Marxists!!

You'd be surprised. I follow an individual on youtube who works in NYC fixing Macbooks the amount of shit soldering jobs done by other places that tried to fix the Macbook is astoundingly high
I want an iPhone 4.

Meanwhile, I have antique German equipment from the 50’s which has never been serviced and is still running strong.

This is not to mention the fundamental mistakes caused by trying to manufacture something from which you’ve stolen the design, and actually know nothing about.

This isn’t to say you can’t get good products from China, you just have to be extremely careful, and do your research about your supplier.
I think that has more to do with the fact that the chinese do not give a fuck then a lack of ability to manufacture good products. Why have quality control when people will buy your stuff regardless?

Read an interesting article that says China is making regulations difficult on fossil fuel car manufacturers in a push to achieve 100% EV

That's exactly the determination America needs on the industry. EV is going to be the way forward- especially when battery tech advances to allow the higher capacities in smaller volumes.

The fact we're lagging behind means America will struggle to obtain the sheer amount of minerals that will be required for a significant EV push. Could be why Blackwater is eyeing an African campaign

Yes is a youtube video but it's about how China is reinventing the future of manufacturing and how workplaces are still extremely difficult for employees but seems to have improved but still stressful an difficult. But it shows you how many people are working hard to become leaders in innovation in the future. it shows also how far behind many companies are at competing with the Chinese.

YouTube video?

So it is relevant and not co-opted by advertising dollars then.

I mean you could have posted shit from known propagandists like the MSM.

Seriously but 80 to 90 percent of the lithium battery material can be recovered so the threat is real but not as bad as people think. Tesla uses less cobalt and other controversial materials in the making of the batteries then in the past. Tesla just surpassed 1/2 billion batteries at the Gigafactory. The reason why Tesla dropped the 75 kWh battery in the Model S and Model X was to put some space between the Model 3 and the Model S also to get ready to ramp up production of the Model 3 battery soon to be used in the Model S and Model X later this year. Higher density storage and will allow for greater range.

That's just prejudice though, the phones are reliable and very popular on the international market right now. When you buy a 1000$ iphone, you're paying for 300$ of components and 700$ of markup. It doesn't make sense to feel more "secure" in the purchase, you've already lost the game right off the gate.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him kicked out of China soon.

I thought Trump is destroying Chinese manufacturing because we are their biggest clients, and they depend on us giving them, and showing them how to make the stuff we want.
Trump is. I've seen a lot of toys and clothing that was Chinese made just 6 months ago, and is now Thai or Cambodian. A lot of supply chains are moving out. Even cheap manufacturering is still money leaving

are any of the competing brands really much cheaper than apple or samsung. i thought about getting one if those Chinese phones yet prices really arent much different. perhaps they were 2 years ago.

People continue to dump on China and China just signed deals with Dubai to start trading on the Dubai exchange, China is working closely with South Africa on development projects and they still have huge problems but they are aggressive and learning to become more competitive. You can see it with the number of products they produce I saw the photos but look at the products they now produce tons of sensors, fire detection equipment, drones, appliances and tons of other items under strict quality controls. So continue to downplay them even they admit they still need to work on a number of issues but they are improving.

what about electronic and some of the big ticket items ?

the next major step it seems is too challenge the japanese, german and korean brands. they are challenging apple and samsung in the phone department and now they seem to moving into the tv market aswell. how far away are LG, sony and samsung from chinese domination.

Agreed. Battery tech is the future. But to maintain this good lifestyle means another punch at the Africans and the blood money we will give to get those minerals.

i can see it. 10 years and chinese brands are going to be number 1.

Good question. The Japanese and Koreans pushed the euro and us TV brands out if business basically.
I think China's problem is that there still isn't any transparency and quantity control can be. There has been people literally killed by Chinese food here.
Also I feel that a lot of Chinese companies lack the real innovation to make it in the world due to China's closed off nature.

i disagree. infact weve seen lesser brands become mid range brands and even those huawei phones are now challenging the bigger phone companies. white goods and general electrical appliances are next and will soon be followed by cars.

apple manufactures in china and so do many japanese brands, unsure on korean ones. it doesnt take much espionage to copy those specs.

they have only themselves to blame. i also read apple cant be sold in china.

the japanese were notorious when it came it to stripping foreign products and basically copying them. and now the chinese have been doing the same...would it really take much quality control and R&R to challenge the mighty samsung and sony ? they are already doing so.

fact is most western companies have been intoxicated with just how cheap they can manufacture their goods jn china and are now facing the crunch because the chinese can manufacure goods cheaper and soon to be better. i include korea and japan in this aswell.

good luck to the japanese economy as its one driven by selling tech.

on the flip side the rise of 3d printing and automation could also see ma ufacturing return to their home base as cheap labour is no longer needed.

For most of what Samsung manufactures? No.

Their DRAM products? Absolutely.

It's really quite the opposite, I look at China as a far greater threat than they actually are because it's never smart to rest on laurels and I wish the DJT Administration treated the CCP far more aggressively than he has (check that out @covenant, especially the hyperlink therein). Learn about US Manufacturing while you're in there.

The simple reality despite all of the hype is that the PRC doesn't have the chips to sit at the table on the industrial high tech front and industrial high tech is not manufactured there, it never has been. It's manufactured in the United States, South Korea, Taiwan and to a lesser extent, Japan and Singapore. China produces electronic products without the brains of them.

When we starting seeing a Chinese firm or two in the Top 20 of global sales and/or R&D, then it's cause for real concern.

Yes, let’s do that...
