A log by MIDMO

Also for the record I will be changing my deadlifting stance to a narrower stance. If I do not note this on my next dl day call me on it.

June 27th

Deadlifts
135 x 5
185 x 5
225 x 5
275 x 1 x 9
255 x 3 x 6
205 x 5 x 3

I played with a narrower stance through 225. Felt akward and weak. Slow off the floor through out today. So I switched gears and salvaged decent volume and a bunch of singles working on form(narrow stance on them was a little better) Let the weight pull me forward sometimes though. May look at some dif assistance lift focusing on breaking the bar off the floor quickly instead of my SLDL for the month of July and August, Open to suggestions.
SLDL
205 x 5 x 3 (tongue started to hang out on these)

Rant on trailer lights tommorrow.

CXS808 nice choice of motivation. She looks easy to talk to.

Try deficit deads from a 1.5" to 2" platform. It helps with breaking the bar off the floor.

Was mad at the trailer but got over it. New LED lights installed and trailer rewired...

Deficit Deads so far the winner for July August.

All work done while standing on a bosu ball, cause I really wanted to focus on my core. Expect curls which I take way to serious to even try while working my core(can you say hernia City)

I also found a 3" platform at the gym. Its from one of the step aerobic classes but if it supported those cows it will support me and 250+ of plates.

This SOHP workout was better than my last three.

Plus one on platform deads. In fact, if you do them, you don't even really need to do squats, in my opinion.

First I want to take a minute and say congrats to one of my training partners for winning a local sub tourny on Sat. He went 6-0 with 6 subs although he got combined into a weight class 2 higher than he competes in MMA.

On the Mats

after my squats this mourning I was a little concerned about how much effort I would be able to put forth tonight. But a nap and some decent food for a change and I made it to the gym. I had a flat tire that I had to get fixed so I was running a hair behind, but I refused to let that get to me tonight. I got there got my mind straight and got to work.

My focus tonight was to continue trying to hit every sub that presented itself, And the first couple rounds I managed to stick with the plan. I gave up a lot of postions but was able to find myself back on top by the end of the round each time. I gave up a RNC in the second which I was not proud of. I very rarely attempt to escape out the back door when I roll. Which is stupid I know because, the earlier RNC not withstanding my back D is on of the more solid parts of my game.

I even start people alot on my back hooks in just to play. Well by round 3 I realized this and started to hit some double underhooked escapes that I normally don't use. That intialated some scrabbles which I won some and lost some but at least I went for it.

I took a round out and got back to work.(part of my use all I can instead of be lazy plan) I continued to attack, and was passing at will but felt myself stall a little in rounds 4 and 5. So I really started to go for broke and ended up mounted. The guy on me had 15lbs or so and is great on using it and recently he has really picked up his top game even more. He keep going to a "skydiver" mount on me which I had some trouble with. But finally we would end up scrabbling again and again I won some lost some but fought for them all. I need to work on some stuff for the inverted guard type mounts in the future.

I think I went through about 10 or 12 rounds total split up a couple dif times. The only real sub highlight was a super sweet bulldog choke that I hit(its one of my favs). I had some other good finishes but nothing really cool. I do need to work on popping my straight armbar instead of muscling it. I lost a couple tonight because once I hooked the arm I slowed down.

The only other adjustment I found tonight was when ankle picking from the bottom I need to grab under the ankle and lift/pull instead of grabbing on top which I had been lazy and been doing I also need to make sure I grab and pull in one motion so their time to react/base is miinized

So a decent night except I may have seperated a rib during my last round. Some painkillers and sleep and I'll see how it feels in the mourning. I've done it before so we'll have to see, may just be dislocated a hair or something.

If it checks out Bench greatness in the AM.

Although not a day of bench greatness, I'm still happy with my effort today. The rib either wasn't as bad as I though or relocated during the night. Right now it feels like someone just landed a solid body shot, which is tolerable.

Not as much in the tank as I would like as I only did 3 sets of curls. I promise to do more next time.

Fucking injuries. Hate to hear you got one messing up your bench.

I don't think it hurt me that bad, cost me some reps on the top end. I think I can roll on it did some drill work today and it wasn't an issue, think its relocated itself. Happened before. Broke some ribs in the same area years ago. never really been right since.

Actually been fighting a groin pull thats been a bigger issue. Happened about 3 months ago and hoped it would heal, it hasn't. Went to the Doc the other day and he said rest I believe him. Was planning on a week or two right around here anyway, hence the hard push the last week.

Hows the back.

98%. I'm going for a PR on rows tonight, for kicks. My shoulder bursitis is keeping me from benching though. bfd. :D
